New York Yankees @ Houston Astros

How are things going in the Yankee Universe? Fans thought the team was going to go for it all when they signed Alex Verdugo and Marcus Stroman, plus traded for Juan Soto. However, there was no other big splash. Even with Stroman, there are still questions about this Yankees rotation, especially with Gerrit Cole out for a while.

It will be Nestor Cortez getting the ball for Opening Day, and after a stellar 2022, 2023 included two IL stints and being inefficient when he was on the mound.

The Astros did not get to defend their crown, as they lost to the eventual champions Rangers in the ALCS, but with all of staples returning, they are looking to get back to the Fall Classic. This will be one of the more dangerous lineups in the league again; they led the MLB last year in runs scored, home runs, Batting Average and OPS.

Justin Verlander is injured, so Framber Valdez gets the ball, and he regressed in 2023 after a phenomenal 2022 season.

With all the fantastic bats, these lineups could finish at the top of almost every power category. Look for them to come out hot in this one.

NBA Best Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Milwaukee Bucks @ New Orleans Pelicans

With Brandon Ingram sidelined for the foreseeable future, Zion is seeing a big uptick in assists. He racked up 10 just last game in a high-tempo game against the OKC Thunder. This game profiles similar in terms of pace considering Milwaukee is fifth in that category. Zion has recorded six assists in five of seven games without B.I., averaging 6.7 per game.

With Zion struggling to score inside the paint against Giannis and co., look for CJ McCollum to do most of the scoring for the Pelicans in this one. Excluding a game he played just 15 minutes, McCollum has 23+ points in six of seven games without Ingram, averaging 26.4 points per game. The Bucks have allowed the second-most points to opposing Point Guards this season and given the hit rate without Ingram, this is a smash spot for CJ.

Khris Middleton continues to thrash this line as of late. He has eclipsed this mark in 18 of his last 20 games when he plays at least 22 minutes. Milwaukee's veteran Small-Forward is averaging 30.1 PRA per game across those contests. With a spread of just two points, he should find plenty of time on the floor in this one, and go over this mark once again.

Dallas Stars @ Vancouver Canucks

One of the best games on this massive slate doesn't get started until 10:10 p.m. ET. Vancouver hosts Dallas. These are two of the best teams in the Western Conference, who are vying for a President's Trophy to finish the regular season with the most total points. The Canucks are coming off a 3-2 home loss against the Los Angeles Kings, which ended their three-game winning streak.

The Stars, conversely, remain on a 5-0 hot streak entering Thursday's road contest against the Canucks, but the majority of their wins have come against bottom-feeders such as Arizona, San Jose and Pittsburgh. Vancouver has won as a home underdog against Dallas five consecutive times, so in a pick'em, with both teams getting -110 moneyline odds, we're staking a unit on the Canucks to win outright.

Bet: Vancouver Canucks Moneyline (-110)
