Texas Rangers @ Detroit Tigers

I'm rolling with the rookies today in this matchup. The Rangers will call up former No. 2 overall pick Jack Leiter to make his MLB debut at Detroit today in the final game of their four-game series. Kenta Maeda gets the starting nod for the Tigers. The Tigers will look to split the series with a win today. I think an away game in Detroit is a nice, low-pressure situation for Leiter to excel against a lineup that has batted .213 collectively to start the season. Maeda struggled in his first start but rebounded in his last outing, giving up only one earned run in six innings pitched against the Twins and drawing a No Decision.

On the offensive side, I expect Wyatt Langford to bounce back after going hitless yesterday. He's batting third in a loaded Rangers lineup and will have plenty of opportunities to drive in a run today, batting behind Corey Seager and Marcus Semien. He's been doing his damage against right-handed pitching this season, batting .286 versus RHP, so the matchup does not scare me here. Look for Leiter to have a good debut and Langford to deliver a single and RBI in a win today against the Tigers.

San Jose Sharks @ Calgary Flames

What an awful season for the Sharks. The best thing about being this bad is that they have the best opportunity to get the No. 1 overall pick. There are some forwards to potentially build around; Mikael Granlund has 47 assists, and Fabian Zetterlund has 23 goals. However, the defense and goaltending need to be completely revamped, as they allowed nearly four goals per game.

The Flames are coming into this game with a couple of high offensive performances, scoring six goals against Arizona and Anaheim. There's no doubt they have a few playmakers, with five players having 50+ points. The top line has been fantastic to end the season, with Nazem Kadri having four goals and Andrei Kuzmenko having five goals.

Going against this awful San Jose defense, the Flames' fire will be hot to end the season.
