Atlanta Hawks @ Brooklyn Nets

Without Trae Young in the fold, Dejounte Murray is the primary facilitator of the Hawks' offense. He was a consistent triple-double threat in his final season with San Antonio, averaging 9.2 assists and 8.3 rebounds per game. He had 16 triple-doubles that season out of 68 games. Murray hasn't found a triple-double with Atlanta yet, but he comes close whenever Young is out of the picture.

Over the last two seasons with Atlanta, Murray has played in 14 contests without Trae. He is averaging 8.8 assists and 5.8 rebounds across these games. The assists are the more consistent part, though, and he has found at least nine assists in eight of those 14. If you're feeling a little more risky, a sprinkle on a triple-double at 20/1 looks worthwhile to me.

If Murray is dishing it, someone will have to score, and Bogdan Bogdanovic looks primed to be that player. He has found 17 points in all seven games without Trae Young this season. Plus, the Nets have allowed the eighth-most points per game to opposing shooting guards.

When the shots aren't falling, look for Nic Claxton to do what he does best and clean up the glass. He's averaging 9.9 boards per game on the year, while Atlanta has permitted the eighth most to Centers per game on the season. Claxton has found double-digit rebounds in five consecutive games against the Hawks dating back to last season.

Michigan @ Rutgers

Rutgers has been non-competitive during a three-game losing streak, losing by an average of 18.7 points per game. However, two of those losses came against teams that entered yesterday .500 or better in league play (Minnesota and Purdue). Meanwhile, Michigan is playing out the string at 3-14 in Big Ten action and has lost 10 of its last 11 games. It also helps that this is a great situational spot for the Scarlet Knights, as they are playing their second-straight home game against a Wolverines team that has this game sandwiched between two of their biggest rivals on the hardwood, Purdue and Ohio State.

After the senior missed two of the previous three, Rutgers was happy to get Mawot Mag back for its last game. Mag had scored in double figures in three consecutive games before the injury, and even though he has been limited to 18 or fewer minutes in his last two games, his impact on the defensive end is immeasurable. He will likely draw Terrance Williams as his primary defensive assignment, one of three Wolverines averaging in double figures (12.4 points per game).

Overall, a Michigan offense that ranks 12th or worse out of 14 teams in Big Ten play in adjusted offensive efficiency and turnover percentage should find it tough sledding to score against a Rutgers defense that ranks fourth nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency and forces turnovers at the 17th-highest rate (21.6%).

The Wolverines are just 2-7 ATS as road underdogs and 8-20 ATS overall this season. We expect their disappointing season to continue in one of the toughest road Big Ten environments at Jersey Mike's Arena.

Pick: Rutgers -7 (-108)

Winnipeg Jets @ Dallas Stars

  • Leg 1: Jets Moneyline (+114)
  • Leg 2: Under 6 Total Goals (-115)
  • Leg 3: Stars Under 3.5 Goals (-170)

The Stars are not shining. They have been dreadful recently, going 1-3-3 over their last seven. They have a few players dealing with injuries, most notably Tyler Seguin. Still, he's played in a couple of losses, and the offense overall is abysmal, scoring two or fewer goals in five straight. It doesn't help when Jake Oettinger is in a slump, as he's recently 1-2-2 with a .858 save percentage.

It especially doesn't help when Connor Hellebuyck is on the other side of the ice. He already has a Vezina Trophy and is in line for another one, as he's a heavy favorite to win it again at -280. The Jets do not have an overly dominant offense, but they do have some solid playmakers, with four players having over 40 points and seven with double-digit goals.

Dallas' schedule has been tough recently and doesn't get much better tonight. With the offense struggling, it isn't the best time to face the best goalkeeper in the league.
