Tuesday’s Best College Basketball Picks

Last Week: 2-2 (50.0%, -15) | Season: 30-26 (53.6%, +192) | Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook | All picks are for 1 unit

George Mason Patriots (-110) at Saint Louis Billikens (-110) | O/U 132.5 (-106/-114)

The Patriots (19-5, 10-1 Atlantic 10) travel to meet the Billikens (14-10, 7-4) at Chaifetz Arena in Saint Louis on Tuesday with a tip-off time of 8:00 p.m. ET. The game can be viewed or streamed on ESPN+.

George Mason is on quite the roll lately, going for nine consecutive victories since a 62-59 loss at Rhode Island on January 4th. The Patriots have covered three in a row, too, while going 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in four games on the road.

The Patriots won 79-67 as a 9-point favorite in the most recent meeting in the series on January 6th, 2024 last season, and the over (144) ended up coming in rather easily. That snapped a five-game win streak in the series by the Billikens, who were 4-1 ATS in the previous five games before the cover by George Mason.

Saint Louis is right in the mix in the Atlantic 10, sitting third in the conference standings. However, it has tailed off, going 2-3 straight up (SU) in the past five outings, while going 2-3 ATS in the previous five contests and 3-5 ATS in the past eight outings.

The under has cashed in three in a row for Saint Louis while going 12-1 in the past 13 games and 18-3 across the previous 21 contests. George Mason has connected on the under in three of the past four games while going 8-4 in the past 12.

Let’s look to the Patriots straight up and we’ll go low on the total.

Picks: George Mason Moneyline (-110) & Under 132.5 Points (-114)

San Diego State Aztecs (-265) at San Jose State Spartans (+215) | O/U 136.5 (-110/-110)

The Aztecs (15-6, 8-4 Mountain West) and Spartans (12-13, 5-8) meet up at the Provident Credit Union Event Center in San Jose at 11:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

San Diego State is looking to rebound after a 68-63 loss at Colorado State as a 2.5-point underdog as the under (134.5) cashed. That halted a four-game winning streak. The Aztecs are skidding hard against the number, failing to cover three in a row, while going 1-5 ATS in the past six games and 5-9 ATS in the past 14 outings. The under is 3-1 in the past four games. On the road, San Diego State is just 1-3 ATS in the past four outings, while the under is on a 3-1 run away from home.

For San Jose State, it is looking for a little bit of revenge. The Spartans suffered a 71-68 near-miss at Viejas Arena in San Diego on January 28th in the first meeting, nearly pulling off the upset as a 14-point underdog as the over (136) comfortably cashed.

The Spartans were routed 79-52 at Boise State last time out on Friday, failing to cover as a 14.5-point underdog. That halted an 8-0-1 ATS run since its last non-cover against Colorado State at home on New Year’s Eve. Despite the non-cover, San Jose State is on a ridiculous 17-2-1 ATS run in the past 20 games after opening the season 0-3 ATS.

San Jose State won in double-overtime last week against Fresno State, but only by three points. Officially, the number closed at -2.5, but at the time of publishing, we had it at -3.5 to take the loss. Let’s go back and trust the Spartans catching more than three buckets here and we’ll go low on the total.

Picks: San Jose State +6.5 (-114) & Under 136.5 Points (-110)

Northwestern Wildcats (+330) at Oregon Ducks (-430) | O/U 142.5 (-102/-120)

The Wildcats (13-11, 4-9 Big Ten) continue their West Coast road trip against the Ducks (16-8, 5-8) in a very important game for both teams. Each side needs a win badly. Oregon is favored rather heavily to get that done. Tip-off time is 11:00 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.

Northwestern suffered a 76-71 loss at Washington last time out as a 3-point underdog as the over (137.5) cashed. The latter is the most important information there, as Northwestern has hit the over in 13 consecutive games dating back to December 21st. The Wildcats are also 0-5 ATS in the past five games while winning just once in the span.

Oregon is on a five-game slide since an 82-71 win against Washington on January 21st. Four of those setbacks were on the road, with a 77-71 loss to Nebraska in the most recent home game on February 2nd as a 7-point favorite. The Ducks are skidding against the number, too, going 1-7 ATS in the past eight games and 2-8 ATS across the previous 10 outings.

As far as the total is concerned, Oregon has cashed high in three in a row, while going 5-1 in the past six games and 8-3 across the previous 11 outings.

The number is rather huge, as Northwestern is a good play catching more than four buckets, but go at that a little lighter. However, going over on the total is the best play on the board in this late-night Big Ten action from Eugene.

Picks: Northwestern +8.5 (-102) & Over 142.5 Points (-102)
