(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Kanas City Royals (-142) at Kansas City Royals (+120) | O/U 7.5 (-118/-102)
The Blue Jays have won back-to-back games after losing five straight. That losing streak started with the Royals. The Blue Jays hit .220 in the final three games of that series. Jose Berrios was incredible in his start against the Royals but made one mistake that resulted in a Salvador Perez home run and he took a loss in a game that ended in five innings due to a rain delay.
The Royals left that series hot and won four straight, but they've now lost three in a row. They had one of the best pitching staffs in the league, but lately, they have given up free passes with 3.6 walks per game and the long ball with five home runs during this losing streak. Cole Ragans was on the other side of that game against Berrios and allowed one earned in five innings.
With the teams playing in a dome, we should see it go the full nine innings. The Jays have a ton of confidence when Berrios is on the mound and heâs looking like the big-money pitcher they were hoping to get.
Pick: Blue Jays Moneyline (-142)
Minnesota Twins (-166) at Chicago White Sox (+140) | O/U 8.5 (-120/+100)
After a brutal start to the season, the Twins are surging, having won eight straight. The offense had been a large reason for those struggles, but they are hitting .348 with a 1.007 OPS during this winning streak. Simeon Woods Richardson will get back-to-back starts against the White Sox. He went five innings, allowing two runs and striking out six the last time out.
Chicago came into this series with what could be the highlight of their season by sweeping the three-game series against Tampa Bay. This team is still at the bottom in nearly every batting and pitching category, and they're on pace to lose the most games in modern MLB history. It's been a brutal season for Michael Soroka as he looks for his first win, but he hasn't been fooling anyone, as his strikeout rate is in the one percentile.
That works for a Minnesota team with one of the highest strikeout rates in the league. The Minnesota bats should look great for another game.
Pick: Twins -1.5 (-105)
Tampa Bay Rays (+122) at Milwaukee Brewers (-144) | O/U 7.5 (-110/-110)
The Brewers' pitching was lit up over the weekend by allowing 15 runs in back-to-back games. The good news is they only allowed one run on Monday. The bad news is they lost 1-0. The bats have been quiet recently, but the power can go at any time, as they are fifth in slugging and home run rate. They've got their ace going and Freddy Peralta is having an incredible season with a 33.3% strikeout rate. You shouldn't be shocked if he's in contention for a Cy Young.
It's hard to say a team needs a win, but when you get swept by a team that was only 3-23 going into the series, you need to shake that off. The pitching has been the biggest culprit for the Rays with a 4.41 ERA, but they also missing some of their best arms, and some guys won't be available for a while or at all. Tyler Alexander gets another spot start. After a rough start to the season, he's been much better with a 2.35 ERA in his last three appearances.
With Peralta, he will give the Brewers a quality start. These bats canât stay down much longer.
Pick: Brewers Moneyline (-144)
