(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Cristopher Sanchez Over 5.5 Ks (-160)
Last night, Ranger Suarez, a left-handed pitcher, pitched a complete game against the Rockies. Suarez dominated the Rockies in nine innings.
Cristopher Sanchez can do the same. Heâs another left-handed pitcher who has already added 22.1% of strikeouts to begin the season. While those strikeout numbers arenât tremendous, Sanchez is facing a Rockies lineup that has struck out more than 29% of the time against lefties since last season.
Since last season, six batters in the Colorado lineup have struck out at least 30.1% of the time against lefties. Meanwhile, Sanchez has been consistent against right-handed batters since last year. Last year, he struck out 21.5% of righties, and this year, heâs already added 21.8% of strikeouts against righties. His stats figure to increase after facing this Rockies team with a .143 ISO and wOBA of .276 against lefties since last season.
Triston Casas Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105)
The Guardians will give Ben Lively the ball for the first time this season. Lively is a right-handed pitcher who allowed a .274 ISO and wOBA of .396 to 201 lefties last season.
Lively also struck out just 17.9% of lefties and allowed 30% of line drives with 29.3% of fly balls in that time.
Rafael Devers wouldâve been a great look here. Unfortunately, heâs hurt and likely will miss tonightâs game. Therefore, weâll go with the next best.
Thatâs Triston Casas. Casas is a left-handed hitter who has hit a .217 ISO and wOBA of .367 against righties dating back to last year. The young left-handed power slugger has also hit 53% of hard contact against righties since last year, along with a 13.2% barrel percentage.
Casas is in a position to add an extra-base hit off Lively.
Tanner Houck Over 4.5 Ks (-102)
While the Guardians have five batters that have struck out under 20.4% of the time against righties, Tanner Houck will still likely face four batters in the Cleveland lineup that have struck out at least 25.5% of the time against righties since last year.
Houck only struck out 21.3% of batters last season. However, heâs improved this year, earning 25% of strikeouts to begin the season.
Along with his 25% strikeout rate, Houck has held opponents to 2.6% walks, a .097 ISO, and a wOBA of .296. These stats are just as important. If he can continue to put up numbers like this, Houck will go six innings or more. The more batters he faces, the better off heâll be to get five or more strikeouts.
Letâs take Houck to get at least five strikeouts tonight against the Guardians.
