Top 6 MLB Player Props for Thursday, August 4 (2022)

Let’s look at the top player props, odds, and picks for today’s MLB action.

Joe Musgrove: o/u 6.5 K’s

Joe Musgrove faces a Rockies team away from Coors Field, which is an advantage in itself. Away from Coors Field, the Rockies rank 25th in wOBA, 28th in ISO, and 22nd in batting average.

Musgrove has been slightly better when pitching at his home ballpark, as his opponent’s batting average drops from .223 to .193, and his ERA drops from 2.94 to 2.29.

The Pick: o6.5 K’s (+105 DraftKings)

Jeffrey Springs: o/u 4.5 K’s

The Detroit Tigers have the 3rd highest K-rate (16.5%) over the last 14 days along with the 2nd lowest batting average (.211)

Jeffrey Springs has had at least 5 K’s in nine of his last 10 starts. I don’t like laying heavy juice like this, but his 4.5 prop number is too low.

The Pick: o4.5 K’s (-170 DraftKings)

Zach Plesac: o/u 17.5 Outs

Guardians pitcher Zach Plesac was rumored to be traded before the deadline, but that was not the case. Plesac gets the start tonight vs. the Houston Astros.

Plesac was roughed up in his last start against these Astros. He failed to make it out of the 4th inning and gave up seven runs on nine hits. Plesac hasn’t been unable to pitch past the 5th inning in four straight starts.

Despite pitching better at home, I don’t see him getting to the 6th inning in tonight’s game.

The Pick:u17.5 Outs (-105 DraftKings)

Paolo Espino: o/u 3.5 K’s

Espino has been roughed up by these Phillies a few times this season. In Paolo’s last outing vs. Philadelphia, he failed to make it out of the 4th inning. He allowed four runs on six hits, including two home runs.

I think there will be a repeat performance. I am expecting an early exit for Paolo Espino tonight.

The Pick: u3.5 K’s (-115 DraftKings)

Noah Syndergaard: To Record a Win

Noah Syndergaard is making his Phillies debut after being traded from the Los Angeles Angels. “Thor” should have a relatively easy matchup in his debut, making an excellent first impression. The Nationals just traded away their two best players in Josh Bell and Juan Soto, which makes this lineup even worse.

Since the All-Star break, the Nationals rank 23rd in wRC+, 23rd in batting average, 20th in ISO, and 21st in wOBA.

The Phillies should be able to jump out to an early lead against Paolo Espino and give Syndergaard a chance to get the W.

The Pick: Yes (+105 DraftKings)

Kyle Schwarber: o/u 0.5 HR

The last time Kyle Schwarber was in a slump, he broke out of it against Paolo Espino by hitting two home runs.

I am returning to the well and taking Kyle Schwarber to hit a Home run tonight against Espino. The Phillies slugger ranks 4th in ISO and 10th in SLG% against RHP.

The Pick: o0.5 HR (+170 DraftKings)
