Tuesday's MLB Picks
Here are three MLB game picks for Tuesday's slate of baseball action.
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Toronto Blue Jays (+136) at Baltimore Orioles (-162) | O/U 8.5 (-102/-118)
This is a great opportunity for the Blue Jays to make up some ground in the American League East as they take on the Orioles. They already got it started with a 3-2 win on Monday thanks to Daulton Varsho's game-tying home run in the eighth and RBI groundout in the 10th. Chris Bassitt gets the ball, and he's been inconsistent throughout the season. It has a lot to do with that sinker, which is his lead pitch. He struggles with it at times and batters are hitting .380 off that pitch.
The AL East champs have been on a great run over the past month, but they're coming into this game losing back-to-back for the first time since May 13. The power bats are excelling, as they're second in slugging, but the pitching has also been on par, as they're fifth in ERA. It's been a great start to the season for Kyle Bradish, whoâs allowed just two earned runs in 9.2 innings. The walks are a little high with 9.3% BB rate.
Both pitchers have awful histories against these lineups; the O's are batting .360 with a .640 slugging against Bassitt while the Jays are .296 and .510 against Bradish. Take both offenses to get to these pitchers early.
Pick: Over 2.5 Runs 1st 3 Innings (-105)
St. Louis Cardinals (-142) at Los Angeles Angels (+120) | O/U 8 (-102/-118)
It's been a brutal season for the Cardinals, who sit last in the National League Central. The team lacks any power with a .341 slugging percentage and is the only team with less than a 2% home run rate (1.9%). The one bright spot is Sonny Gray, who is on Cy Young watch with a 2.29 ERA and his pitching run value in the 87th percentile.
The Angels are in the midst of an awful stretch without Mike Trout. They are 6-18 in their last 24 and have won back-to-back games once in that time and one of 13 series this year. Reid Detmers has been demolished recently. Over his last four starts, he has an 8.74 ERA, and opposing batters have a .968 OPS.
Although the Cards lack power, the Angels donât make opponents feel like that, especially at home. Opponents have the third-highest home run rate (2.9%) and highest slugging percentage at Angel Stadium.
Pick: Cardinals Moneyline (-142)
