Top MLB Parlay for Thursday, April 28 (2022)

We fell short of another parlay yesterday, with the Atlanta Braves falling short in extra innings. The Braves had plenty of opportunities to score early in the game but weren’t clutch enough to tack on runs early. Therefore, the Braves ultimately ended up losing the game in extra innings.

Anyway, with plenty of day games and cold weather, today’s slate is a bit more complex than others. But we’ll dive in and look for the best options on the board for our MLB Parlay for April 28.

Houston Astros (-160)

How many times will we see Justin Verlander on the mound with just a -160 price tag this season? Likely not many times. He’s going up against a Rangers squad with a .077 ISO and wOBA of .260 against righties this season. The Rangers also walk just 7.8% of the time.

On the other hand, Verlander has 29% strikeouts and 5.8% walks and has looked elite since returning to the mound. He might allow a little bit of power to lefties, but overall, only Willie Calhoun has been consistent with power against righties throughout the season for the Rangers.

Expect the right-handed heavy Astros to find success against Martin Perez of the Rangers. A few runs will be all the Astros need.

Bet: Astros (-160 at DraftKings)

New York Yankees (-210)

The New York Yankees are starting to find their groove offensively. There’s been a ton of talk about how the Yankees aren’t good this year, but they’re in first place in the AL East over powerhouse teams like the Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Rays. So let’s give the Yankees credit.

The Yankees will take on Bruce Zimmerman, a lefty that has looked very good this season. But if you look at last year’s stats, things will eventually take a turn for Zimmerman. It’s cold in New York, but the wind will be blowing out, and the Yankees have the power needed to beat Zimmerman. Zimmerman has allowed nearly 35% line drives this season and has been able to escape.

Not today.

Bet: Yankees (-210 at DraftKings)

Los Angeles Angels (-145)
The Los Angeles Angels will be a massive threat this season, especially offensively. After scoring nine runs last night, the Angels have an offense that can compete against anyone.

The Angels will take on Cal Quantrill of the Guardians, who has an xFIP above 6 and more walks than strikeouts to start the year. The Angels have a ton of quality hitting against righties and have a .244 ISO with a .355 wOBA collectively as a projected lineup.

Meanwhile, the Angels will send out Reid Detmers, who has had his ups and downs. But the reality is, Detmers has so much potential and is going up against a lineup that has a .121 ISO and wOBA of .301 to start the year. Without Jose Ramirez and Owen Miller, this Guardians lineup would be absolutely dead meat.

Bet: Angels (-145 at DraftKings)

Parlay: (+305 at DraftKings)
