Top 3 MLB Player Prop Bets Odds & Picks for Sunday, August 14 (2022)

We round out another week of Major League Baseball today with a full 15-game slate. Games get underway at 12:05 p.m. ET in the nation’s capital, with the Padres squaring off against the Nationals. The action concludes with a Sunday Night Baseball rivalry at Fenway between the Yankees and Red Sox.

Below I’ve listed my top three player props that I’ll be locking in today.

Jose Abreu O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The White Sox look to break out the brooms this afternoon as they take on the Tigers in Chicago. First pitch is slated for 2:10 p.m. ET with a pitching matchup featuring Lance Lynn for the Southsiders and Tyler Alexander for Detroit.

Tyler Alexander comes into today’s contest at 2-6 on the year with a 3.83 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 17 appearances (seven starts). He’s coming off of a quality start against the Guardians in a game where he allowed two earned runs on seven hits over 7.0 innings of work.

Chicago has had Alexander’s number ever since he came into the league in 2019. The White Sox are hitting .314 against the southpaw over 121 at-bats with three home runs, 10 doubles, and a triple. Of all the success they’ve found, Jose Abreu’s numbers stick out the most. The slugger is 10-21 (.476) against the lefty with a trio of doubles. Abreu’s also been on fire after a slow start to the year, improving his average to .298 (19th) and his OPS to .836 (24th). Let’s lock in the over on Abreu’s total bases this afternoon.

Bet: Jose Abreu Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110 via DraftKings)

Josh Rojas O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Diamondbacks bounced back last night and evened their divisional series with the Rockies at one game apiece. Today’s rubber match is slated for 3:10 p.m. ET in Denver, with a pitching matchup between Tommy Henry and Ryan Feltner.

Feltner has only made 12 career appearances in the Majors, with 10 of them coming in 2022. The right-hander was 2-3 with a 6.02 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over those 10 outings (nine starts). Feltner was tagged for five earned runs on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings against the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Josh Rojas is coming off of a 3-5 game in last night’s 6-0 win for the Snakes. The third baseman launched his seventh home run of the year and improved his average to .276 in 82 games. Rojas is hitting .276 against left-handed pitching this season with an OPS of .749 and five home runs. I think he’s going to get plenty of opportunities to clear his total bases mark against the inferior pitching staff of Colorado.

Bet: Josh Rojas Over 1.5 Total Bases (-140 via DraftKings)

Jose Miranda O/U 1.5 Total Bases

Minnesota won 5-3 in 11 innings last night to knot up their three-game set with Los Angeles. They’ll turn to Chris Archer to start today’s game while the Halos counter with Tucker Davidson. This one is scheduled for 4:07 p.m. ET from Angel Stadium.

Tucker Davidson has not had much success this season in five appearances (four starts). The left-hander has only made one start with the Angels, and the other four outings were with the Braves. Davidson pitched against the Mariners on Sunday and gave up six earned runs on six hits and five walks over 4.0 innings.

I like for this Twins lineup to do some damage against Davidson this afternoon. Specifically, I’ll be locking in the over on Jose Miranda’s base total at even-money. The first baseman is hitting .279 on the year with 11 long balls and 47 RBIs. Against lefties, he’s hitting .280 with six homers and an OPS of .855. Miranda should get plenty of good pitches to hit this afternoon, and I think he’ll take advantage.

Bet: Jose Miranda Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100 via DraftKings)
