Tuesday’s Best MLB Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Texas Rangers (+130) at Tampa Bay Rays (-155) | O/U 7.5 (-108/-112)

After an exciting last month of the season, the Rangers came up just short by losing the tiebreaker to the Astros for the AL West title. They have been piecing together a rotation all season due to injuries, and Jordan Montgomery has pitched well since coming over from the Cardinals with a 2.79 ERA in 11 starts.

Tyler Glasnow has been the Rays’ top pitcher this year as he led the team in ERA, hits per nine, and strikeouts per nine. However, he had a rough end to the season with a 6.20 ERA in his final four starts.

Glasnow has a great history against this Rangers lineup with a .189 batting average and a 29.5 strikeout record. The Rays will capture Game 1.

Pick: Rays Moneyline (-155)

Toronto Blue Jays (+100) at Minnesota Twins (-155) | O/U 7.5 (-102/-112)

Kevin Gausman has been the Jays’ best pitcher, leading the rotation in ERA, WHIP, and WAR. His fastball is sharp, but his split-finger has been a drop off the table pitch with a 43.1 whiff rate, and that’s a reason his strikeout rate is above 30% for the first time in his career.

Pablo Lopez was a big acquisition for the Twins in the offseason, and he bolstered the rotation with a career-high 11 wins and 234 strikeouts to go with a 3.66 ERA.  He had just one start against the Blue Jays this year and gave up four earned runs, but still managed to get the win the 9-7 offensive show does.

Gausman also had a start where he struggled against the Twins in a 7-6 win. This is a game where you need to lean over the total.

Pick: Over 7.5 (-102)

Miami Marlins (+136) at Philadelphia Phillies (-162) | O/U 7.5 (-105/-115)

Jesus Luzardo was fantastic towards the end of the season with a 1.96 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 18.1 innings. He’s seen the Phillies twice this year and in both games, earned the win allowing five earned runs and striking out 14 across 12.1 innings.

Early on in the season, it looked like Zack Wheeler would regress this season, but he’s turned it around. Wheeler has quality starts in 12 of 15 outings with a 3.17 ERA, and opposing batters are hitting .209. When you compare that to the .326 BABIP in the previous 17 starts, it shows that he’s been able to induce weak contact.

An inter-divisional series to start the playoffs will be exciting, and I’m expecting a pitchers’ duel to begin.

Pick: Under 7.5 (-115)
