Los Angeles Clippers vs. Dallas Mavericks (-2) | O/U 233 (-110/-110)

This new Clippers lineup is still adjusting as they’ve dropped their first two games with James Harden. You can tell that offensively, this team isn’t in sync, as they’ve scored under 100 points and lost the turnover margin in each of those games.

The Mavericks took an unexpected loss to the Raptors on Wednesday, but this team is still looking great early in the season. The offense is third in adjusted offensive ranking and has established itself as the premiere perimeter shooting team, leading the league in three-point percentage.

Los Angeles is 11th in three-point shooting defense, and just like Toronto, if they can press them there, they can be competitive in this game. The Clippers are still one of the top defensive teams in the league against Dallas, who is 24th in points allowed. For this matchup, this total is too high.

Pick: Under 233 (-110)

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Houston Rockets (-2) | O/U 217 (-110/-110)

All of a sudden, the Rockets are blasting off as they won four straight, including giving the Lakers their worst loss since LeBron joined the team. The offense has done well, scoring over 120 points in the last two games, but the defense has been phenomenal by keeping opponents below 100 in the last two. Fred VanVleet has been a great addition as he runs the point, allowing this offense to flow much better.

The Pelicans had a great roster, but the lack of success comes with the injuries they continue to endure. A couple of players are game-time decisions, but they know they won’t have CJ McCollum, who leads the team in assists, three-pointers made and is second in points. You’re seeing the impact of his loss as they’ve lost both games he has missed.

The Rockets defense has been great in the post and mid-range, but they struggle against the three. Not having to worry about the Pelicans’ best three-point shooter will help them tremendously.

Pick: Rockets -2 (-110)

Oklahoma City Thunder (-2.5) vs. Sacramento Kings  | O/U 224.5 (-110/-110)

The absence of D’Aaron Fox has heavily impacted the Kings, as they’re 1-3 in the games he has missed. Their offensive efficiency shows as they went from averaging 121 points with him to 103 without him.

The Thunder are quickly becoming one of those teams on the rise as they have started 5-3. We’re seeing that Chet Holmgren was the missing piece, as he averaged nearly 17 points and eight rebounds, while his 57.5% field goal percentage is 14th. His ability to stay out on the perimeter draws defenders away to give guys like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander the chance to drive to the basket.

Holmgren might not be a large factor with Domantas Sabonis guarding him, but OKC has too many other options, while Sacramento doesn’t at the moment.

Pick: Thunder -2.5 (-110)
