Los Angeles Lakers vs. Denver Nuggets
We donât have any stats for this year. But we can do out best to project them.
The Lakers finished the preseason with three straight losses. The last one came against the Suns, 123-100, despite LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the action.
James scored 19 points in 22 minutes, while Anthony Davis added 15 points and just two rebounds in 23 mintues. The Lakers look better on paper compared to last season. But itâs still unknown which bench players will step up and play bigger roles. Rui Hachimura was super incosnsitent last season. Christian Wood can give good minutes, but heâs not always on top of his game.
On the other hand, the Nuggets concluded their preseason action with a 13-point win over the Clippers. Michael Porter Jr. had been out with a sprained ankle, but it sounds like heâll play in the season opener. Rookie guard, Julian Strawther also has an ankle injury that kept him out of the last game.
Strawther and Hunter Tyson are two players who can make major impacts off the bench for this team. Theyâre without Bruce Brown, but still have Justin Holiday and Reggie Jackson, to play his role.
Iâll side with the defending champions in the first game of the season.
Bet: Nuggets -5 (-110)
Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors
Weâll see Chris Paul in the first Phoenix Suns game of the year after all!
Chris Paul was sent to the Warriors as part of the Bradley Beal-Jordan Poole deal that was a three-team trade with the Wizards and Suns.
The Warriors brought in Paul to play alongside Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. With Draymond Green out, the starting lineup has the Warriors starting the three guards, Andrew Wiggins, and Kevon Looney. The bench still has Dario Daric, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and Trayce Jackson-Davis. Once Green comes back, the Warriors will have one of the deepest benches in the NBA.
However, the best lineup in the NBA belongs to the Suns. The Suns have Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker, along with Jusuf Nurkic and Josh Okogie. Phoenix also added Grayson Allen, Eric Gordon, Nassir Little, and Keldon Johnson, along with many other interesting names. In the offseason, it was unclear if the Suns would have a reliable bench. But theyâve worked it out to where thereâs plenty of talent that can develop and improve as a second unit for the Suns.
Weâll get points in this game. Letâs back the Over.
Bet: 234.5 (-110)
