Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets

The Toronto Raptors haven’t been good offensively this year. They’ve ranked 25th in points per 100 possessions and have shot an effective field goal percentage of 53.2%, which is 23rd in the NBA.

Toronto has also lacked a high free throw rate and has turned the ball over 15.4% of the time. The Raptors will likely keep turnovers down against the Nets, who add under 12% of turnovers a game. However, getting to the foul line and winning the glass on the offensive end will be a challenge for the Raptors. Finding good shots also won’t be easy, with the Nets holding teams to a 53.5% effective field goal percentage.

On the other hand, the Nets are a much more consistent offense. With Dennis Smith Jr., Nic Claxton, Cam Thomas, and Cam Johnson all game-time decisions, it’s unclear what the starting lineup will look like. Thomas is doubtful, but Johnson will more than likely play.

The Nets have dealt with these injuries throughout the year and have still earned a 56% effective field goal percentage. Brooklyn has scored 117.1 points per 100 possessions despite rarely getting to the foul line. They’ll be more efficient on the offensive glass and should get better looks. Neither team will see the foul line often.

I’ll back the Nets -1.5 at home.

Bet: Nets -1.5 (-110)

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Oklahoma City Thunder have become one of the best offenses in the NBA. However, they’re facing the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are one of the best defenses in the NBA.

The Thunder have scored 118.8 points per 100 possessions. However, the Timberwolves have held teams to 107.5 points per 100 possessions. Oklahoma City typically never struggles to find good looks. But with the Timberwolves holding teams to a 49.6% effective field goal percentage, the Thunder could eventually struggle to get open looks in this game.

Meanwhile, the Thunder have also been tremendous defensively. Oklahoma City has held teams to a 50.5% effective field goal percentage. The Thunder have also earned 16% of turnovers, which is 6th in the NBA. The difference is that the Thunder have given up 33.4% of offensive rebounds. The Timberwolves should get to the foul line more frequently and earn more second chances.

Minnesota needs to try to keep the turnovers down. If the Timberwolves can do that, they’ll escape the Thunder with a cover tonight.

Bet: Timberwolves -4.5 (-110)
