Tuesday’s Best NBA Bets

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are going for their 9th consecutive win of the season. They’ll take on a Philadelphia 76ers team that has been in shambles once Joel Embiid could no longer play.

The 76ers have lost three of their last four games, despite all four of those games at home. They’ll be on the road against the Eastern Conference’s best team.

The Celtics are one of the best defenses in the NBA, holding teams to 112 points per 100 possessions. Opponents are not getting to the line against the Celtics and are shooting a 52.5% effective field goal percentage against Boston. It’s hard to win games doing that.

Although the 76ers will cut out turnovers in this game, so will the Celtics on their offensive end. Boston has also scored a league-best 122.3 points per 100 possessions with a 57.9% effective field goal percentage. The Celtics will also earn more offensive rebounds and get to the foul line at a higher rate, with Philadelphia allowing a 22.1 free throw rate and 28% of offensive rebounds.

I’m calling a blowout here. Grab the Celtics at -12.5.

Bet: Celtics -12.5 (-105)

New Orleans Pelicans vs. New York Knicks

The Knicks didn’t look great against the Detroit Pistons last night. If anything, the Knicks probably should’ve lost that game to a nine-win ballclub at home.

But I’m not going to turn on them tonight. The Knicks are at home for the second consecutive game and will make adjustments to ensure they put together a full 48-minute game this time.

The Pelicans haven’t looked great over the last week, with losses to Miami and Chicago at home. Now, they’ll be on the road at the Mecca.

The Knicks do a great job at limiting offensive rebounds and don’t send teams to the foul line often. They’ve held teams to 114.6 points per 100 possessions, which is an above-average rate.

On the other hand, the Knicks dominate the offensive glass and score at a much more consistent rate of 119.4 points per 100 possessions. New York will likely see the foul line more often and should do the little things better to sneak away with the win.

Currently, the Pelicans have CJ McCollum listed as a game-time decision. Jose Alvardo is also listed as out due to a three-game suspension.

Therefore, I’ll settle with the +2.5 spread with the Knicks at home.

Bet: Knicks +2.5 (-110)
