Miami Heat vs. Toronto Raptors

One team is red hot. The other team is on a four-game losing streak.

The Miami Heat are the hot team. They’ve won four of their last five games, including an overtime win over the Nets on the road a couple of days ago. The Heat aren’t the most efficient offense. However, they’ve added a free throw rate of 23.4, which ranks third in the nation.

The Raptors should limit the Raptors on the foul line and will likely keep the Heat off the offensive glass. Toronto will still give up good looks. However, the Heat have only scored 114.7 points per 100 possessions. That’s a below-average number.

While the Heat won’t have a massive day offensively, the defense should compensate. Miami has held teams to 25.8% of offensive rebounds and a free throw rate of 18.3. Toronto has a free throw rate of 18.3 offensively, ranking 25th in the NBA. Therefore, it’s likely that the Heat will earn more foul shots and more rebounds, especially with the Raptors adding just 27.5% of offensive rebounds per game.

The Heat are the more consistent defense. That will be the difference.

Bet: Heat -2.5 (-110)

Golden State Warriors vs. Utah Jazz

Draymond Green returned to the Warriors but came off the bench against the Grizzlies last time out. He added 24 minutes and scored seven points with seven rebounds and four assists in those 24 minutes. Golden State was missing his presence. However, they’re also missing consistent scoring talent on the roster.

The Warriors have shot an effective field goal percentage of 55.1% this season. That’s only the 13th-best in the NBA. Golden State should still have an offensive advantage to get higher-quality looks. Ultimately, the second chances will also come with the Warriors adding 31% of offensive rebounds. However, the Warriors will lack a high rate of foul shots against the Jazz.

On the other hand, the Warriors have allowed 118.3 points per 100 possessions. While the Jazz turn the ball over at a high rate, the Warriors are typically weak at forcing turnovers. Like the Warriors, the Jazz are also effective on the offensive glass, , and should get to the foul line even more often.

This is the first of four meetings between the Warriors and Jazz. Both teams should dominate in second-chance points. The Warriors will likely shoot a higher percentage, but the Jazz will probably add more shot attempts thanks to offensive rebounds.

Let’s take the Over 242.5 in this one.
