New Orleans Pelicans vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

The New Orleans Pelicans will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 7:30 pm ET tip-off on ESPN. The Thunder have started the season 3-1, while the Pelicans aren’t far behind with a 2-1 record.

So far this season, the Pelicans haven’t been exciting on offense. The team has earned only 101.7 points per 100 possessions while adding just 22.1% of offensive rebounds. The Pelicans haven’t been getting to the line at a high rate and have shot a 51.6% effective field goal percentage.

Considering that Brandon Ingram is questionable for tonight’s game, the Pelicans look very weak offensively right now.

On the other hand, the Thunder have held teams to 110.7 points per 100 possessions while keeping teams to a 52.6% effective field goal percentage. They’ve also limited opponents from getting to the foul line and rank 10th in free throw rate.

Offensively, the Thunder look good too. They’re led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and have collectively shot a 57.7% effective field goal percentage this season. Like the Pelicans, the Thunder aren’t great on the offensive glass. However, the Pelicans have allowed 30.3% of offensive rebounds per game.

The Pelicans have been good defensively, other than the rebounding. But second-chance points for the Thunder should go a long way.

Let’s ride the Thunder at home -3.5.

Bet: Thunder -3.5 (-110)

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz

The Memphis Grizzlies have started the season 0-4 without Ja Morant. Nobody saw this coming. But many figured that the Grizzlies overachieved in previous seasons.

The Grizzlies have scored just 104.2 points per 100 possessions while earning only 23.2% of offensive rebounds. They’re below average in all offensive categories and don’t even get to the foul line at a solid rate.

However, the Grizzlies should have more success offensively than previous games. The Jazz have allowed 122 points per 100 possessions this season, 29th in the NBA.

While the Jazz have struggled defensively, the offense has been average. They’re shooting a 50.7% effective field goal percentage, 23rd in the NBA. However, they’ve also added 33.8% of offensive rebounds, the best rate in the NBA. Memphis is typically good at keeping teams off the glass. The Grizzlies should also earn plenty of turnovers in this game.

Therefore, even with the Jazz at home, I like Memphis’ offense to level up tonight. If the Grizzlies can succeed on the defensive glass and earn some turnovers, Memphis should escape with its first win of the season.

Bet: Grizzlies +2.5 (-110)
