Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are playing in the second game of a back-to-back. They most recently lost to the Pacers in a high-scoring affair.

At 8-2, the 76ers are one of the NBA’s best teams. They’ve held teams to 110.9 points per game on the defensive end and have limited opponents to 25.4% of offensive rebounds. They’ve also kept teams to a 52.8% effective field goal percentage.

The Celtics have scored 121.1 points per 100 possessions while shooting an effective field goal percentage of 57.4%. Boston’s offense is one of the most consistent in the league right now.

On the other hand, the 76ers have been just as consistent offensively, scoring an almost-identical 121.2 points per 100 possessions. However, the Celtics have limited teams to 104.7 points per 100 possessions. Boston ranks in the top-five defensively in points per 100 possessions, effective field goal percentage, offensive rebounding, and free throw rate.

Meanwhile, the 76ers typically get to the foul line at a very high rate. Against the Celtics, that free throw rate of 26.7% might dip a little bit.

Let’s roll with the Celtics on the road.

Bet: Celtics -4.5 (-110)

Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Lakers

The Kings and Lakers had slow starts to begin the season, but both teams are now above .500 heading into this game.

The loser will dip back to .500 on the season, while the winning team will continue improving their record.

The Kings haven’t been as good offensively as last season. They rank 18th in points per 100 possessions and have only shot an effective field goal percentage of 52.9%. Sacramento isn’t getting to the foul line at a high rate and has been average at earning second chances on the glass.

While the Lakers haven’t played exceptional defense, the one thing that stands out is the fact that they haven’t allowed many teams to get to the foul line consistently.

On the other hand, the Lakers are in the top five in free throw rate offensively. Los Angeles should win the free throw battle in this game. However, don’t expect the Lakers to work the glass. They’ve earned just 22.7% of offensive rebounds this season, while the Kings have allowed only 24.4% of offensive rebounds.

Still, Los Angeles has shot a higher effective field goal percentage and should get more quality looks in this game. The Kings have been just as poor defensively as the Lakers, but Los Angeles has been able to get better looks throughout the season.

At home, I’ll back the Lakers at -1.5.

Bet: Lakers -1.5 (-110)
