Week 5 comes to a conclusion on “Monday Night Football” as the Raiders host the Packers. Below, I walk readers through my best bet to make for MNF.

Best Bet for Monday Night Football Week 5: Packers vs. Raiders

Packers (+2.5) vs. Raiders  (-2.5) | O/U 46.5 

A litany of injuries on both sides of this contest has made handicapping more difficult and, subsequently, volatile line movement in each direction. However, as of Monday morning, it appears that we are more likely to get a relatively full roster from each side.

For Green Bay, the remaining question mark is Jaire Alexander, who would be a big loss in containing Davante Adams. However, Adams may not play either, and even if he does, I do not trust him to be at 100%.

Either way, I like an alternative Under in this game. The Packers’ run defense could not stop a nosebleed, which is what I expect the Raiders to attempt to exploit (especially if Adams is not at full health). Josh Jacobs has gotten off to a sluggish start this year, but Las Vegas has no issues feeding him the rock in what is a relatively conservative offense. A run-heavy game plan is great for Unders, especially those in the mid-40s, as the clock will continue to tick all game with a running attack as opposed to an aerial one.

Slower drives, fewer possessions, running clock, etc., are all key variables for totals to stay below the number. The reason the game total is so high, despite this likely game plan, is that the Raiders’ defense is terrible.

Maxx Crosby can get to the quarterback, which helps, but this defense can get exploited both through the air and on the ground. That said, the Packers rank third-to-last in total yards per game, scoring 20 or fewer points in back-to-back weeks.

Las Vegas has stayed Under 44.5 in three of the first four weeks, and with a likely run-heavy gameplan, I expect more of the same on Monday night.
