The NHL season is underway! Let’s highlight a few key games for today.

Monday’s NHL Best Bets

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Los Angeles Kings (-155) vs. Arizona Coyotes (+130) | O/U 6.5 (-115/-105)

The Kings are one of the more deeper rosters in the league. The offense has impressive skaters, including Adrian Kempe (who has 18 points), and the defense is one of the more physical groups as they try to disrupt their opponent’s flow. Los Angeles used both sides of the ice to win its last two games: Their defense contained one of the better offenses in the Florida Panthers in a 2-1 win and then its offense to beat a very good St. Louis Blues defense in a  5-1 win.

The Coyotes were one of the worst teams in the league last year, but they’ve been much better this year at 8-7-2. They are getting production from the offense as they are 15th in expected goals at even strength, and the power play has been great as they’re fifth at converting 29.5%.

The Kings have already won the first two games of this series with 11 goals in those games. That offense will be the factor, as the Coyotes are not as strong on the defensive side.

Pick: Kings 60 Minute Moneyline (-105)

New York Rangers (+114) vs. Dallas Stars (-135) | O/U 6 (+102/-122)

The Rangers are on an impeccable run – winning 10 of their last 11 games with at least a point in each. We knew how good the defense would be, but we’ve seen the offense click as they’ve come away with four goals in each of the past five games. The greatest news was they got their top netminder back as Igor Shesterkin made his return from injury and saved 30-of-33 goals against the New Jersey Devils.

The Rangers’ strength is also the Stars’, as Dallas is strong at the blue line and is backed by Jake Oettinger between the pipes. However, it was an abysmal performance in his last outing when the Stars took a 3-0 lead only to collapse by allowing six unanswered goals in a loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

Don’t expect that type of game from Dallas, but this is a tough matchup. The Rangers have a better offensive roster, both at even strength and on special teams, and that should help them keep this streak alive.

Pick: Rangers Moneyline (+114)

Edmonton Oilers (-105) vs. Florida Panthers (-115) | O/U 7 (+114/-135)

It’s been an incredible turnaround since Edmonton made a coaching change and they’re 4-1-0 in their past five. It also looks like Connor McDavid has broken out of his slump with two goals in his past three games. One thing that hasn’t changed is the Oilers need to score to win games because the goaltending is awful: They’ve allowed 3.81 goals per game this season.

The Panthers have a lot of speed on offense: Sam Reinhart is second in the league with 13 goals and Matthew Tkachuk has 14 assists. What could bring them back to the finals is that they also have a defense that can make stops by allowing 28 shots per game and Sergei Bobrovsky is allowing just 2.63 goals per game.

Bobrovsky won’t have a flawless game, especially when you go against a group of forwards like the Oilers have, but with Aleksander Barkov back in the lineup, the Panthers have their full compliment of forwards that can keep up. The goaltending will be the difference in this game

Pick: Panthers Moneyline (-115)
