The NHL season is underway! Let’s highlight a few key games for today, Monday, Nov. 27.

Monday’s NHL Best Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Florida Panthers (-130) at Ottawa Senators (+110) | O/U 6.5 (-135/+114)

The Panthers are getting healthy with Aleksander Barkov, Aaron Ekblad and Branton Montour all getting back into the lineup. But it hasn’t been successful as they come in with back-to-back losses. The defense is playing well this season with Sergei Bobrovsky and Anthony Stolarz playing great in the net, but the normally potent offense is struggling with under three goals scored per game.

The Senators have a better winning percentage than some of the teams above them, but they still sit in last based on points. The offense has nine guys with double-digit points but the goaltending has not been supportive, and it shows as they’re 27th in goals against above expected.

Will the Senators break through the Panthers defense? They’ll be able to push some goals through, but even with the Panthers’ offense playing below expectations, you can instill confidence against below-average goaltending.

Pick: Panthers Moneyline (-130)

Tampa Bay Lightning (+120) at Colorado Avalanche (-142) | O/U 6.5 (-110/-110)

The Lighting will win games as long as the offense is playing well. This group of forwards are still one of the best and they’ve averaged five goals in their past five games. They’ve needed those because the goaltending isn’t helping – they’ve only won by more than two goals twice in their previous five wins.

That goaltending will get a challenge against the Avalanche. Colorado comes in as the third-best scoring team with at least three goals in seven consecutive games. They are also a great two-way team, as Alexandar Georgiev is playing better than a couple of weeks ago. And as a result, the team is third in expected goal differential.

The Lighting have the lineup to contender against the Avalanche, but right now, they don’t have the defense. Colorado is too good to play against them one-sided.

Pick: Avalanche 60 Minutes Moneyline (-105)

Vegas Golden Knights (-115) at Calgary Flames (-105) | O/U 6.0 (-108/-112)

After the 10-0-1 start to the season, the defending champs have hit a skid – going 3-5-1 in their past ten. Vegas’ defense had been playing better than expected when looking at difference; they’re 21st in expected goals against and third in total goals allowed per game.

Calgary could be getting better soon enough. They’ve beaten some playoff potential teams, but they’ve also stayed close in some of the losses. The team needs to be more consistent, but they are getting better goaltending, with Jacob Markstrom being 4-1-1 with a .906 save percentage.

Things are moving in the right direction for the Flames, and at home, they can beat the Knights, that are struggling.

Pick: Flames Moneyline (-105)
