Top NHL Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (12/11)

The NHL season continues! Let’s highlight a few key games for today, Monday, Dec. 11.

Monday’s NHL Best Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Arizona Coyotes (+110) at Buffalo Sabres (-130) | O/U 6.5 (-110/-110)

The Coyotes must have felt like Icarus by flying up to the sun, but they got too close and fell to earth. After winning five straight, they’ve dropped back-to-back games, losing by a combined score of 9-4. Goalie Connor Ingram propelled them during that stretch, but he’s allowed nine goals with a .836 save percentage over the last two games.

The big problem with the Sabres this year is having their full lineup on ice; it hasn’t happened. They finally got Tage Thompson back, and he has points in three straight, but Alex Tuch, Zemgus Girgensons, Ukko-Pekka Luokkenen and Jordan Greenway remain out of the lineup. The team needs to keep their head above water long enough because this is a great roster when they’re healthy.

Pick: Coyotes Moneyline (+110)

Detroit Red Wings (+180) at Dallas Stars (-218) | O/U 6 (-130/+110)

The Stars have hit a rough spot recently, losing three of their last four by a combined score of 15-5. The offense has been brutal during this stretch by going under 47% of the expected goals in four of the last five games. Hopefully, Roope Hintz can return after missing the last game due to illness because Tyler Sequin is also questionable. It doesn’t help when Jake Oettinger is playing out of character, allowing 15 goals in his last three games.

The Red Wings were on a great run recently but lack momentum with back-to-back losses. It was a scary moment in the last game for captain Dylan Larkin after taking a hit to the head and, for moments, lying motionless. Luckily, he skated off on his own, but his status for this game is uncertain. They also may not have J.T. Compher, as he missed the last few games.

The goaltending matchup should heavily favor the Stars, and even if Larkin misses this game, they still have Alex DeBrinvat, Lucas Raymond and Robby Fabbri on the top lines. It’s the same with players like Jason Robertson and Joe Pavelski if Hintz isn’t playing. Take Dallas at home with the overall better goaltender.

Pick: Stars 60-Minute Moneyline (-150)

Toronto Maple Leafs (-135) at New York Islanders (+114) | O/U 6 (-115/-105)

The Maple Leafs have been one of the stronger teams in the league, and they’ve recently come away with nine out of a possible 10 points. The offense is playing well in these games, averaging nearly 52% of expected goals. Ilya Samsonov is coming off his best performance of the year with a shutout against the Predators.

Not to be outdone, the Islanders have also grabbed nine of 10 possible points. This team isn’t known for its offense, but they’ve reached three goals per game, are averaging 4.60 per over their last five and over 55% expected goals in their last three.

Each team is packing a lot of offense, and while goals allowed numbers are good, both teams are allowing over 32 shots per game.

Pick: Over 6 (-130)
