Best NHL Bet for Saturday

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Colorado Avalanche (-265) vs. San Jose Sharks (+215) | O/U 6.5 (-105/-115)

The Avalanche got their season off to a great start with a 5-2 win over the Kings. All of their playmakers came out with Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Mikko Rantanen all lighting the lamp. They were also able to out-hit Los Angeles, something not a lot of teams can do.

The Sharks weren't as fortunate in their season debut as they lost in their home opener to Vegas 4-1. This team knows they're in a rebuild; they traded Timo Meier last year and Erik Karlsson in the offseason, so coming away with zero points will be a recurring theme for them this year.

The Avs are already showing up on offense, and defensively, they're also great, so grab them on the puck line.

Pick: Avalanche -1.5 (-105)

Carolina Hurricanes (-125) vs. Los Angeles Kings (+105) | O/U 6 (-110/-110)

As mentioned, the Kings lost at home to start the season. They're still a fast and physical team, and they have playmakers on each line like Anze Kopitar, Kevin Fiala, and Carl Grundstrom.

Carolina was one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference last year, and this pack of veterans like Jordan Staal and Sebastian Aho will have them in contention again. What's great about this team is that they don't have just a couple of superstars; they have a collection of players that are a cohesive unit, and that's why they have someone who can score on each line.

This team will always depend on their goalies and blue line, as they were second in goals and shots allowed last year. This could be another game where the Kings’ offense struggles.

Pick: Hurricanes Moneyline (-125)

Vancouver Canucks (+170) vs. Edmonton Oilers (-205) | O/U 7 (+110/-130)

The Oilers still have one of the better forward units with reigning Hart Trophy-winner Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Zach Hyman. From what we saw in their first game, the goaltending could again hinder their chances at a long playoff run. Stuart Skinner struggled in the playoffs, and he had an awful performance in the last game, allowing four goals on 16 shots before being pulled for Jack Campbell, who allowed the same results.

The Canucks put on an offensive show by grabbing eight goals in the 8-1 victory against the Oilers. The offense is expected to be fine, but last year, they had trouble with their goaltending. Thatcher Demko missed some time with an injury, and even when he was in the lineup, he struggled with a .901 save percentage.

I'm fully expecting the Oilers to rebound and come away with more than one goal, but the Canucks should continue to play well on offense.

Pick: Over 7 Total Goals (+110)
