Thursday's NHL Best Bets
Chicago Blackhawks (+172) vs. Detroit Red Wings (-210) | O/U 6.5 (-102/-120)
Detroit played on Wednesday night, losing 3-2 on the road to the New York Rangers. Now, with no days off to rest, the Red Wings return to Little Caesars Arena to host the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. Chicagoâs been mired in off the ice controversy lately but has managed to go 2-1 SU in its last three outings. Conversely, the Red Wingsâ three-game win streak ended against the Rangers.
Chicago has lost each of their last nine games following a win, while each of the last four games played between these two opponents has gone over the total goal line, which is only -102 odds for over 6.5 total goals on Thursday night. However, the best trend to invest can be found in the NHL game props market, betting over 1.5 first period goals.
This prop has cashed in each of Chicagoâs last seven games following a win. Chicago has seen two-plus goals scored during the first period in four consecutive games, while Detroit is 3-1 toward this prop in its last four games played.
Letâs stake a unit on Over 1.5 first period goals scored between Chicago and Detroit on Thursday night.
Bet: Over 1.5 1st Period Total Goals (-130)
New Jersey Devils (-137) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (+114) | O/U 6.5 (+100/-122)
The Devils are fresh off of erasing a two-goal deficit in the third period to beat the New York Islanders. Next up, a road trip to Philadelphia, where the Flyers await. Philadelphia is 1-3 SU in its last four games played. Most of the Flyersâ games have gone under this season, going 14-6-2 toward the total goals scored line.
New Jersey is the complete opposite, going 15-5 toward the over. Something has to give in this contest. Devils goaltender Vitek Vanecek is projected to start in the crease and heâs struggled, allowing four goals in three of his past four starts.
Flyers goalie Carter Hart has also surrendered three goals in four consecutive starts, so getting plus odds on over 6.5 total goals is too enticing to pass on. Letâs invest a unit on over 6.5 total goals between New Jersey and Philadelphia, with one high-octane offense, and two goaltenders struggling to stop shots on goal.
Bet: Over 6.5 Total Goals (+100)
