Top NHL Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (11/22)

Our patience of sitting through an NHL-less night on Tuesday is being rewarded with a massive 14-game slate on the ice tonight! These 28 teams will play tonight, have Thanksgiving off, and then hit the ground running again as the season churns ahead.

The huge schedule of games gives us a ton of betting options, but I’ve narrowed in on my top three plays on the ice tonight. Let’s dive into the picks and analysis.

Wednesday’s NHL Best Bets

Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.

St. Louis Blues (+104) vs. Arizona Coyotes (-125) | 6.5 (-102/-120)

The Blues have been playing quality hockey as of late, winning four of their last six games. They’ll make the trip to the desert tonight to take on the Coyotes. This Central Division clash is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET from the Mullet Arena in Tempe, AZ.

This total is floating between 6.0 and 6.5, and I don’t mind laying the juice to get the extra half-goal. I’m taking the under in Tempe tonight. The Blues are second to only the Sharks in terms of their games going under this season. St. Louis is 13-4 to the under and they’ve seen eight of their nine road contests go under the total.

That’s due to the combination of Jordan Binnington playing exceptionally and the offense having issues scoring. Binnington comes into this game at 5-5-1 with a 2.47 GAA and .922 SV%. As for the offense, they’re ranked just 28th in scoring this season, averaging 2.7 goals per game. I think these two pedestrian offenses keep it under seven goals tonight – give me the under.

Bet: Under 6.5 (-120)

Montreal Canadiens (+105) vs. Anaheim Ducks (-126) | 6.5 (-122/+100)

This cross-conference showdown between the Canadiens and Ducks probably isn’t the marquee game of the night, but it should still be an interesting battle out west. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET from the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.

Both of these teams have hit rough patches over the last couple of weeks. The Habs have dropped four straight games and are just 2-7-1 over their last 10, while the Ducks are riding a three-game slide. Well, someone has to win tonight, and I’ll ride with Anaheim as short favorites.

The big edge here comes in net. Through all of the lean years in Anaheim, John Gibson has been one of the few glimmers of hope for the Ducks. He’s off to another solid start this season, posting a 2.27 GAA and .926 SV%. As for Montreal, whether it be Sam Montembeault or Jake Allen, it’s worth noting the team is just 27th in goals allowed, surrendering 3.33 goals per contest. Ultimately, the Ducks are in a substantially better spot as an organization and they should take care of business at home tonight.

Bet: Anaheim Ducks Moneyline (-126)

Vancouver Canucks (+146) vs. Colorado Avalanche (-176) | 6.5 (-120/-102)

One of the other late games on the docket tonight features a Western Conference battle between the Canucks and Avalanche. Both hockey clubs are in second in their respective divisions. This one is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET from Ball Arena in Denver, CO.

Vancouver has been the second-best team (NJ, 13-3) to the over this year, going 12-5-2 to the over. That’s mainly due to their offense being on absolute fire. The Canucks are first in the league in goals per game (4.1 GPG) and they’re third on the power play (30.99%) this year. As for the Avalanche, their star-studded lineup isn’t far off the pace, scoring 3.8 goals per contest (3rd).

The key reason why I think we’re in for a higher-scoring affair is because of Alexandar Georgiev’s current form. The netminder comes into tonight’s game with a 3.08 GAA and .888 SV%. I think the high-flying Canucks should be able to score a few goals tonight. And, if that’s the case, the Avs will have no issue turning this into a “back-and-forth, trading chances” type of game. They clearly have the offensive stars to keep pace. I’m not overthinking this one, I’m locking in the over in the Mile High City.

Bet: Over 6.5 (-120)
