Top WNBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Thursday (8/31)

There are three games on the WNBA slate tonight. There’s only one that is expected to be close, but that’s why we play the game! Anything can happen.

Here are two best bets to consider for tonight’s games.

Thursday’s Best WNBA Bets

All wagers are for 1 unit. | Odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook.

Washington Mystics vs. Las Vegas Aces

The Washington Mystics are one game away from returning to .500. However, they’re facing a Las Vegas Aces team on the road, who are 30-6 on the season.

Ironically enough, the Aces have lost their last two games and have dropped three of their previous five games. Las Vegas hadn’t lost two straight all year until their last two games, and that first loss of the two was against Washington.

The Mystics defeated the Aces 78-62 on their home court on August 26. Now we’ll have a rubber match of a three-game regular season series after Las Vegas dominated the Mystics 113-89 in the first matchup.

Elena Delle Donne scored 21 points for the Mystics in their recent win over the Aces. The Mystics scored just eight points in the entire second quarter but then held the Aces to no more than 18 points in any quarter. Las Vegas shot 6-for-29 from three and only 30.8% from the field. They also turned the ball over 19 times. However, Washington only scored seven points off turnovers; the Mystics didn’t take advantage of Las Vegas’ mistakes.

The Aces have put up 92.6 points per game this season and rarely shoot poorly from the field. They’ll be back home against a Washington team that has allowed 81 points per game this year. I like the Aces in a revenge game tonight.

Bet: Aces -9.5 (-110)

Seattle Storm vs. Los Angeles Sparks

The Los Angeles Sparks have been bitten by the injury bug recently.

Lexie Brown will miss the rest of the regular season with a non-COVID-19 illness; she added 12.4 points per game this season. Chiney Ogwumike has a foot injury and is out for this game. It’s also likely that Layshia Clarendon won’t play tonight. Plus, Nia Clouden has a knee injury that will keep her out for this matchup.

But despite all of that, the Sparks are still 5.5-point favorites.

The Sparks defeated the Storm on June 3 in a 92-85 game, but then the Storm added a win over the Sparks on June 6, ending 66-63. Now they’ll play the third of four regular-season games tonight.

Seattle has lost four of its last five games, and they’ve allowed at least 90 points in their previous three losses. On the other hand, the Sparks have won six of their last ten games but are on a two-game losing streak with losses to Connecticut and Chicago.

Neither team has averaged more than 80 points per game this season. Seattle has struggled badly, and the team doesn’t have much depth right now. The Under is the play here.

Bet: Under 159.5 (-110)
