Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins: NHL Playoffs Same Game Parlay (Thursday)

We’re fresh off of another +301 Same Game Parlay win following Dallas’ narrow 3-2 win over Vegas during Game 5 on Wednesday night. Thursday only has one NHL Stanley Cup Playoff game scheduled on its slate and it’s shaping up to be a great one, as the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Boston Bruins for Game 6 at Scotiabank Arena.

Despite playing without star center Auston Matthews in Game 5, Toronto came out firing against the Bruins on the road, quadrupling the number of shots taken and seizing an early 1-0 lead before Trent Frederic tied it up before the end of the first period. No more scoring occurred until overtime when Matthew Knies buried the game-winner from close range against Jeremy Swayman. Joseph Woll earned his first start for the Maple Leafs, replacing Ilya Samsonov in the crease, and he made some massive saves late in regulation to stave off elimination and force Game 6 tonight.

Matthews remains sidelined with an undisclosed injury and illness for Toronto in Game 6, meaning Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and John Tavares will need to step up to force Game 7 back at TD Garden this weekend. Boston has lost its last five playoff series closeout games, dating back to last year, when they blew a 3-1 lead to the Florida Panthers. There’s no doubt this lingers in the back of their minds as they prepare for Game 6.

Thursday's NHL SGP

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Leg 1: Brad Marchand To Record 1+ Points (-174)

The heart and soul of Boston’s team lies within Brad Marchand. He’s an agitator but also a prolific performer in the offensive zone for the Bruins.

Marchand remains the point leader for Boston entering Game 6, failing to record a point in Game 5 for the first time this series. Boston performs well at Scotiabank Arena, winning five straight games, so Marchand should return to the point column on Thursday night.

Leg 2: Mitchell Marner To Record 1+ Points (-265)

Mitch Marner has three points in five games for the Maple Leafs, despite attempting only nine shots on goal. He scored in Game 4 and contributed on the opening goal via assist in Game 5.

Without Matthews, Marner will be tasked with keeping Toronto’s offense humming, earning over 21 minutes of time on ice in this series. Skating on the Maple Leafs’ first-line attack and top powerplay unit will provide enough opportunities for Marner to record his fourth point against Boston in Game 6.

Leg 3: Under 7.5 Alternate Total Goals (-520)

Over trends are in play for Game 6, since six of Toronto’s last seven home games after an overtime win have gone over the total goals line. Oddsmakers have set it to 5.5, with -110 on either side. Assuming Swayman starts, which hasn’t been confirmed yet, this line is predicated on whether or not Joseph Woll can replicate his spectacular performance from Game 5.

In three regular season starts against the Bruins, Woll allowed four goals in every matchup. We’re playing it safe by taking under 7.5 total goals at -500 odds, since we haven’t seen more than six goals scored during any game in this playoff series.

Leg 4: Boston Bruins Moneyline (-115)

Finally, to get over +400 odds, which FanDuel has a 30 percent Same Game Parlay profit boost to opt-in and apply,  we’re taking the Boston Bruins’ moneyline odds at -115. This line is very close to a pick’em, but the Bruins have won five consecutive games played at Scotiabank Arena. During Game 3 and Game 4, with Matthews on the ice, Boston pulled away late in a 4-2 win, before building a dominant 3-0 lead in Game 4.

It’s the riskiest leg, but the Bruins are just as urgent to close out a series as Toronto is to avoid elimination, so we’re backing a motivated Boston team that performs well on the road against the Maple Leafs, who remain without their star center on Thursday night.

Same Game Parlay: +427

This +427 Same Game Parlay, which can be boosted to +550 on FanDuel Sportsbook, is reliant upon Brad Marchand and Mitch Marner to each contribute on a scoring possession for their respective teams. Then, we’re hitting under 7.5 total goals, which should hit, considering the high-quality goaltending we’ve seen from Jeremy Swayman and Joseph Woll. Boston must win outright on the road in Game 6 to cash this +427 SGP.
