Here are today's best bets.

MLB Best Bets

New York Yankees (-174) vs. Cleveland Guardians (+146) | O/U 8 (-122/+100)

In the first game since their ALDS series last year, the Guardians took the opener 3-2 thanks to a stellar pitching effort from ace Shane Bieber after going in a 2-0 hole after the 1st inning. The lineup has carried over the same philosophy from last season, that's to work the count to get on base, and they're third in the majors with an 11.2% walk rate.

The Yankees' offense does it the opposite way. They will hit with power, take their big cuts, and if it results in strikeouts, then so be it. They can afford to do it because they'll have the cushion of Gerrit Cole, who's been phenomenal so far. He led the league in strikeouts last year, and his 19 through two starts are the second most this year.

He should help New York tie this series.

Pick: Yankees -1.5 (-102)

NBA Play-In Game Best Bets

Atlanta Hawks at Miami Heat

At this point, Kyle Lowry's status with the Heat is uncertain. He's questionable for tonight's game with knee soreness.

With that said, the Heat haven't been great offensively this year. The team has scored just 113.3 points per 100 possessions while shooting a 53.1% effective field goal percentage. Both of those numbers are bottom-five numbers in the NBA.

However, the Heat still manages to get to the foul line at a high rate and defend exceptionally well. Miami has earned 16.3% of turnovers on the defensive end and has limited teams to 25.2% of offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are the much more consistent offense. They've limited turnovers to 12.7% and earned nearly 28% of offensive rebounds. However, Atlanta won't get to the foul line much, and the defense has also had its struggles. Atlanta has allowed 116.3 points per 100 possessions while giving up an effective field goal percentage of 55.5%.

Of course, you don't want to mess with Jimmy Butler in the playoffs, but I still think Miami's defense is good enough to keep this game Under the total.

Bet: Under 228 (-110)

NHL Best Bets

Chicago Blackhawks (+340) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (-450) | O/U 6.5 (-104/-118)

The Blackhawks squandered a 2-1 lead to the Wild last night, keeping Minnesota's hopes for a Central Division title alive. Chicago will attempt to play spoiler once again tonight as they take on Pittsburgh in a cross-conference clash. The Penguins (90 points) are on the outside looking in on the Eastern Conference Wild Card race, trailing the Panthers (92 points) and Islanders (91). However, Pittsburgh has a game in hand, so a win tonight gets them back into the playoff picture. This one gets underway tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA.

I'll say the Penguins get the two points tonight, and I think they do so by at least two goals. Pittsburgh has been sharp defensively over their recent 4-2-0 run, giving up just 13 goals over the span (2.17 GAA). We can expect Tristan Jarry to be in net tonight, and the 27-year-old seems to be hitting his stride finally. He's given up just two goals over his last two starts (MIN, DET), which moved him to 24-12-6 on the year with a 2.89 GAA and .910 SV%.

If he keeps his form tonight, the lowly Blackhawks offense will have issues scoring goals. Chicago is just 1-11-0 over their last 12 games, finding the net just 22 times during the sample (1.83 GPG). The lack of offensive production has seen them drop to dead last in the league offensively, scoring just 2.4 goals per game. If Pittsburgh's defense holds up, they should be able to stretch their lead out by multiple goals.

Bet: Pittsburgh Penguins -1.5 (-170)
