Today’s Best Bets

NBA Best Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Sacramento Kings @ Phoenix Suns

The Sacramento offense hasn’t produced as well as some expected this season. The Kings have scored 117.7 points per 100 possessions, which is only 14th in the NBA.

The Kings have been below average in turnover percentage, offensive rebounding percentage and free throw rate on offense. Meanwhile, the Suns have held teams to an 18.7 free throw rate and have watched teams shoot a 54.2% effective field goal percentage against them. That’s ninth in the NBA defensively for the Suns.

The Kings don’t really stand out offensively in their matchup against Phoenix, but the Suns absolutely do. Phoenix has shot an effective field goal percentage of 57.2%, while the Kings have allowed a 57% effective field goal percentage. Furthermore, the Suns have a 24 free throw rate, while the Kings allow a 21.6 free throw rate, which is 26th in the NBA defensively.

The Kings are good on the defensive glass and at earning takeaways. However, the Suns should shoot a higher percentage from the field and add more foul shots at home. Let’s roll with the Suns at -5.5 for tonight’s TNT matchup.

Bet: Suns -5.5 (+100)

Vancouver Canucks @ Chicago Blackhawks

Vancouver is on an insane run this season, and they enter tonight’s game as the best team in the league at 35-12-6 (76 points). The Canucks will take on the Blackhawks, who are comfortably in the cellar of the Central at 14-35-3 (31 points). Puck drop from the United Center in Chicago is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.

The Canucks haven’t been overly dominant over the last few weeks, considering they’re 6-1-3 in their last 10 games. They’ve won just two of those games by multiple goals. However, one of those two games was a 2-0 victory against the visiting Blackhawks back on Jan. 22. Additionally, Vancouver is the second-best team on the puck line this season, going 33-20. They trail only Philadelphia (34-20) in the category.

Ultimately, these teams are trending in completely opposite directions. This feels like a great spot to lay the 1.5 goals with the Canucks. They’ll have a favorable matchup against the wounded Hawks team without Connor Bedard for another week. Chicago also has a trio of defensemen on the injury list in Jarred Tinordi, Connor Murphy and Nikita Zaitsev. They’ll have to lean on depth defenders to elevate their game, and hosting the league’s best offense (3.7 GPG) isn’t an ideal spot for them to get their feet underneath them. Look for the Canucks to secure an easy two points tonight in the Windy City.

Bet: Vancouver Canucks -1.5 (-110)

#25 Oklahoma @ #12 Baylor

Elsewhere across the league, we have the fighting Porter Mosers taking on the fighting Scott Drews in Waco, Texas. Despite coming off a loss and both teams ranking in the top 25 on KenPom, Baylor sits around a 6.5-point favorite at home.

I’ll say it; bet Oklahoma here. Baylor shines through its perimeter shooting with a 40.7% clip from deep. The Sooners boast the fourth-best three-point defense in the nation, holding opponents under 28% from beyond the arc. The Bears depend on their shooting, and I don’t think they will be able to this game.

Alternatively, Oklahoma’s offense lines up well here. They will be able to score down low against the 67th-ranked defense. Moser’s squad will perform better in the mid-range and from near-proximity looks against Baylor. This will be a close game, and feel free to sprinkle some moneyline bets on the Sooners, but at least take them against the spread.

Play: Oklahoma +6.5 (-102)
