Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins
We will know more by kickoff, but currently, the variance for the result of this game for the Bills can be the No. 2 seed or miss the playoffs altogether. That variance does a good job of capturing this season for the Bills. A few weeks ago, they were the No. 10 seed, and a playoff birth was starting to look out of reach. They have won four consecutive games since their overtime loss to the Eagles in November and have a shot at winning the AFC East.
The Dolphins have had a very different season. Rather than being good or bad at any specific part of the season, their results have relied more on their opponent. They have only beaten one team with a record above .500 this season. They are coming off a 56-19 loss to Baltimore in Week 17, where they may have lost one of their best defensive players, Bradley Chubb.
Considering the up-and-down play from both of these teams, I don't feel comfortable picking either at the current line. I do love the Over, though. Miami has allowed many points this year, and with defensive injuries mounting as the season goes on, I don't think their defense can suddenly shut down Buffalo. I expect a high-scoring game with the division on the line in this matchup. Give me the Over 49.5 points.
Bet: Over 49.5 (-110)

Chicago Bulls @ Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers will have Joel Embiid back in the lineup tonight. Meanwhile, De'Anthony Melton has been ruled out due to a sore back.
The 76ers are dominant with Embiid in the lineup. He's an MVP candidate. However, the Bulls have added two wins against the 76ers earlier this year. Chicago won a road game against Philadelphia without Zach LaVine. In the second game on Dec. 30, the Bulls dominated the 76ers when the Sixers didn't have Embiid.
Philadelphia typically defends very well. The 76ers have held teams to 111.5 points per 100 possessions, and Chicago doesn't score efficiently. However, the Bulls have been able to limit turnovers and have earned 28.5% of offensive rebounds, which isn't too bad.
On the other hand, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic are still out for the Bulls. With that, Andre Drummond has stepped up in a big way on the glass and around the rim. They'll need his best defense against the 76ers, who have earned 121.6 points per 100 possessions. Embiid and the Sixers are the best at getting to the foul line and have turned the ball over just 12.4% of the time.
The Bulls will be more shorthanded, but a 10.5-point spread is too high. Take the Bulls at +10.5 instead.
Bet: Bulls +10.5 (-110)

Northwestern @ Illinois
Northwestern has been one of the more confusing teams to handicap this year, with a win over Purdue followed by a truly awful loss against Chicago State. Sometimes, their sluggish pace and sub-par offense allow teams to simply stay in the game, and that's exactly what happened.
Against Illinois, the Wildcats must keep up with an up-tempo pace. The Illini excel on the offensive glass while ranking 20th in near-proximity shooting. Northwestern surrenders a much higher percentage of perimeter looks, so it should be an interesting battle in the interior tonight - on both sides of the court. Illinois owns the second-best interior defense, with the sixth-best mid-range defense, a place on the court where Northwestern is expected to take nearly 40% of their shots, 13% above the DI average.
Brad Underwood's team simply lines up well against Chris Collinsâs, and I don't expect Northwestern's shooting to be good enough to keep the Cats close here.
Bet: Illinois -5.5 (-110)
