NFL Best Bets

Denver Broncos @ Houston Texans Over 46.5 (-110)

Looking ahead to this game back in September, it would have seemed like it would have more of an impact in the top of the draft order rather than two teams fighting for playoff spots. Yet, both the Broncos and Texans have 6-5 records going into their Week 13 matchup, tied with the current seventh-seed Indianapolis Colts for the last playoff spot.

November was great for both of these teams. The Broncos are currently on a five-game winning streak, and the Texans have gone 3-1 this month. The Broncos are averaging 23.4 points per game over this streak, and the Texans averaged 28.5 points per game in November.

With both of these teams playing their best football of the season at the same time, my lean is to the over.

NBA Best Bets

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Minnesota Timberwolves

The Oklahoma City Thunder have become one of the best offenses in the NBA. However, they’re facing the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have one of the best defenses in the NBA.

The Thunder have scored 118.8 points per 100 possessions. Yet, the Timberwolves have held teams to 107.5 points per 100 possessions. Oklahoma City typically never struggles to find good looks. But with the Timberwolves holding teams to a 49.6% effective field goal percentage, the Thunder could eventually struggle to get open looks in this game.

Meanwhile, the Thunder have also been tremendous defensively. Oklahoma City has held teams to a 50.5% effective field goal percentage. The Thunder have also earned 16% of turnovers, which is sixth in the NBA. The difference is that the Thunder have given up 33.4% of offensive rebounds. The Timberwolves should get to the foul line more frequently and earn more second chances.

Minnesota needs to try to keep the turnovers down. If the Timberwolves can do that, they’ll escape the Thunder with a cover tonight.

Bet: Timberwolves -4.5 (-110)

College Basketball Best Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

#8 Miami Hurricanes @ #12 Kentucky Wildcats

After a 5-0 start to the season, Miami has moved up to No. 8 in the AP poll. Neutral wins over Georgia and Kansas State behind some electric perimeter shooting have shown why the Hurricanes are more than just a Final Four team of the past.

Meanwhile, Kentucky sits at 5-1 without an impressive win but competed blow for blow with Kansas in the Champions Classic. This should be a great game.

Both teams have been awesome from deep. Miami is leading the nation, shooting above 45% from the arc while Kentucky is not far behind, ranking fourth. While neither team rebounds at a high clip, what they do is take care of the ball, with the Wildcats having the lowest turnover rate in the nation.

It is hard not to be drawn to the over here. Miami’s defense is 100th on KenPom, and I think that may be too high. Their interior defense ranks in the bottom 200. They allowed at least 80 points to Kansas State and FIU. Kentucky has allowed nearly 40% of opponent points to come from deep, the 22nd-highest mark in the country. As I mentioned before, that’s where Miami excels.

The two teams are high-paced and have electric offenses. While the point total is high, the shot opportunities will be there. With effective perimeter shooting, higher-paced play and middling defenses, both teams should eclipse 80 points.

Play: Over 163.5 points (-110)
