NFL Best Bets

Indianapolis Colts @ Atlanta Falcons
The number set at 44.5 looks like the oddsmakers are just using averages on this one. The Falcons and Colts are scoring an average of a combined 43 points scored per game and are allowing a combined average of 44.36 points per game this year.
I just don't have much faith in the Atlanta Falcons scoring many points. They haven't scored over 28 points in any game this year and are averaging a mere 18.5 points per game. Arthur Smith looks like he is purposely trying to win games as ugly as possible. Bijan Robinson only had seven carries this week, and no pass-catcher had over three targets. This line could get bet down throughout the week, so I plan to bet this one early.
These are the two most likely game scripts I see for this matchup: A low-scoring game where one team wins by a field goal or Indianapolis wins by two scores. Either way, I like the under 44.5 points for this game.
Leg 2: Under 44.5 Total Points (-115)

NBA Best Bets
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Boston Celtics @ Golden State Warriors
The Boston Celtics have one of the best offenses in the NBA. They've scored 119.4 points per 100 possessions and have added a 57.2% effective field goal percentage. Boston should see the line often, with the Warriors fouling at a free-throw rate of 23.1. However, second chances won't come as often.
On the other hand, the Celtics have held teams to 109.4 points per 100 possessions. They're one of the most balanced teams in the NBA. Boston's defense has held teams to 26% offensive rebounds and a 14.8 free throw rate. Beyond that, the Celtics have allowed a 52% effective field goal percentage.
Winning on the road is never easy, especially when traveling from the East to the West Coast.
Boston has labeled Kristaps Porzingis as questionable, while the Warriors are unsure about Chris Paul's status for this game. That said, the Celtics have just five losses while the Warriors are below .500. I'll take the Celtics at -5.5.
Bet: Celtics -5.5 (-110)

College Basketball Best Bets

#22 Virginia @ #23 Memphis
I'll keep this one short and sweet: Virginia is winning this game.
If there is any way to beat Memphis, it is with slow, methodical play. The Tigers love to push the pace with the 24th fastest offensive tempo but fail to take care of the ball well and come in ranking 45th in offensive efficiency. Virginia's defense is back to its old ways, ranking second in adjusted efficiency. The Tigers love to get out and run, but the Cavaliers own the third-best transition defense and will allow nothing from deep.
Virginia has been a bit of a tough nut to crack after putting up 41 points against Wisconsin. Yet after five straight wins, including a drubbing of Texas A&M, I have learned to put more respect on their name. I trust their perimeter shooting and mid-range looks well enough that they won't need to defend on the offensive glass to score. Memphis is one of the worst defensive rebounding teams in the nation, so the opportunity might arise for Virginia anyway. My official play is to take the points with Virginia, but don't be afraid to bet on Tony Bennett outright tonight in the FedEx Forum.
Play: Virginia +3.5 (-110)
