San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Super Bowl LVIII)

If you're with me here, you might want to place this bet later in the week because this number could climb higher. The casuals will start plunking down their Super Bowl bets this week, and that crowd wants to bet on Mahomes, not against him. But Mahomes has fallen short of this number in four of his last five games, and the one time he cleared it during that stretch, he cleared it by only a half-yard, throwing for 262 yards against the Dolphins in the Wild-Card round.

The 49ers have given up 231.7 passing yards per game this season, playoffs included. The Chiefs have good reason to strive for offensive balance in the big game rather than a pass-heavy approach. Mahomes has been dealing with a shortage of wide receiver firepower all season, and San Francisco is easier to run on than to throw on, ranking fourth in the league in DVOA vs. the pass and 15th in DVOA vs. the run. I think the under is a good bet at this number, and I'll like it even more if Mahomes' yardage total climbs higher, as is likely to be the case.

Bet: Patrick Mahomes UNDER 261.5 passing yards (-110)

Milwaukee Bucks @ Phoenix Suns

The Milwaukee Bucks have been a disappointment since Doc Rivers took over. It's a work in progress, but that's not where the Bucks want to be in the middle of the regular season.

The Bucks have time to work around their struggles. They're sitting at 33-17 and near the top of the Eastern Conference. The offense is still really good, scoring 120.7 points per 100 possessions. The Bucks also do well at limiting turnovers, getting to the foul line at a high rate, and shooting a 57.7% effective field goal percentage, which is fourth-best in the league.

The Suns should ultimately hold the Bucks off the offensive glass but won't earn many turnovers.

On the other hand, Phoenix's offense is similar to Milwaukee's. The Suns have added 120.2 points per 100 possessions and get to the foul line even more. While the Suns turn the ball over nearly 15% of the time, the Bucks have only averaged 11.7% of turnovers.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard listed as game-time decisions, I'm backing the Suns at home against the spread. The Bucks aren't on the same page defensively, allowing at least 113 points in each game Rivers has coached.

Bet: Suns -3.5 (-115)

Vancouver Canucks @ Carolina Hurricanes

The Canucks open up the second half of the season with a five-game road trip, where they'll make stops in Carolina, Boston, Detroit, Washington and Chicago. They're currently first in the entire league with 71 points. As for Carolina, they enter tonight's game at 28-15-5 (61 points), which is good enough for second in the Metropolitan Division. This cross-conference showdown is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET from PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C..

While Vancouver has been excellent on both ends, there's no denying that their offense has been the driving force of their success this season. They enter tonight's game ranked first in scoring (3.8 GPG) and eighth on the power play (25.00%). In their last 11 games, the Canucks are averaging 3.9 goals per game, and the totals are seeing 6.5 combined goals per game. Eight of those 11 contests have seen at least seven goals.

As for the Canes, they bring in the league's second-best power play, cashing 27.95% of their man-advantage opportunities. Carolina is currently eighth in scoring, lighting the lamp 3.4 times per game. Ultimately, these are two offensive-minded teams, and I think we see their skills on display tonight. I'm taking the over in Raleigh.

Bet: Over 6.5 (-102)
