Tulsa Golden Hurricane vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Odds & Game Pick (2021)

Ohio State vs. Oregon was one of the best games of the week last Saturday. Losing to Oregon showed Ohio State has weaknesses that they need to work on going into the Tulsa game. Ohio State has been giving up points on defense the past two weeks. They also struggled to score in the red zone multiple times. Oregon is a great team and came ready to play. The good news from Saturday is the Ohio State wide receivers are elite. They will be open and make the catches.

Tulsa is having a rough season, losing Week one to UC Davis as heavy favorites 17-19 then dropping their game against Oklahoma State 23-28. There is a good chance we see Tulsa start 0-3 after the Ohio State game. There is no value in the -3300 Moneyline for Ohio State. We are going to have to look towards the spread and totals for plays in this game. How many points are both teams going to score during this game is the question.

Overview

Ohio State has weapons on offense. CJ Stroud is still developing. Chris Olave is one of the top wide receivers in college football. Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba proved they are top receivers as well. Ohio State proved they have depth at the running back position. This team has big-play potential. With all the weapons at the receiver position, this team can gain chunks of yards at a time. The offense will put up points and a lot of them. The question is will they slow down and run out the clock.

The defense has been a struggle for Ohio State. Teams have been able to run all over them. CJ Verdell is a great running-back, don't get me wrong, but Oregon ran through Ohio State's defense with ease. Minnesota also ran all over this defense. Ohio State should be getting some of their secondary back so their defense will get better against Tulsa. Defensively they will need to get a lot better to win the Big Ten. Unless something changes in this defense, Tulsa will be able to score on Ohio State.

Tulsa has played two close games, losing to UC Davis, an FCS school 17-19, then losing to Oklahoma State 23-28. Oklahoma State doesn't have the best offense this year, and their defense is decent. Tulsa is going to give up points to Ohio State. With Ohio State's defense being so bad recently, Tulsa will have chances to find the endzone this week.

Bottom Line

Ohio State is going to be looking to make a statement this week. After losing a tight game to Oregon, expect Ohio State to come out ready to play. They can't lose another game this year if they want to stay in the playoff race. Tulsa may score some points but expect Ohio State to get up big fast and the clock. The play here is to bet on Ryan Day to do what he has done in every regular-season game besides last week. Win the game and score as many times as possible.

Pick: Ohio State -25 (-110)
