Betting Profile: Jack Della Maddalena (13-2 Overall / 4-0 UFC)

Last Four Fights (W-W-W-W)

Fighting in front of his hometown, this weekend is the coming out party for Jack Della Maddalena. After starting 0-2 in his professional career, Maddalena has rattled off 13 straight victories and will surely be ranked in the welterweight division after this weekend.

Making some serious noise since debuting in the UFC, he has recorded three straight first-round knockouts. In fact, Maddalena has knocked out his opponent in 11 of his 13 professional wins.

An absolute weapon on the feet, Maddalena avoids grappling and prefers to stand up and strike. Through his four UFC fights, he has landed 8.45 strikes per minute at 50% accuracy.

Meanwhile, his defense may be even more impressive as he boasts a 67% striking defense. While that is also a product of him finishing off most of his opponents quickly, it is impressive nonetheless.

Betting Profile: Randy Brown (16-4 Overall / 10-4 UFC)

Last Four Fights (W-W-W-W)

The story of Randy Brown’s career in the UFC thus far is “good but not quite good enough.” He beats everyone he is supposed to but loses when he starts taking on the bigger names.

Entering this scrap in great form, Brown has won each of his last four fights. However, none of those wins were against an opponent of Maddalena’s caliber.

When Brown faces the bigger names, he just cannot get it done as he has losses to Vicente Luque, Niko Price, and Belal Muhammad. As a betting favorite, Brown is 7-1.

But, as a betting underdog, he is just 3-3. Like Maddalena, Brown prefers to stand up and strike, as he has not landed a takedown in any of his last four fights.

Also a strong striker, Brown has landed 4.38 strikes per minute at 48% accuracy.

Bottom Line

On paper, a stand-up fight should benefit Brown. He boasts a four-inch height and five-inch reach advantage.

However, Maddalena’s clinical and powerful striking should overcome that. The UFC gave Maddalena this fight in front of his home crowd for a reason, and he will put on a show.

Brown’s chin is susceptible to early endings, evidenced by the fact that each of his last two losses were via knockout. On the flip side, 11 of Maddalena’s 13 professional wins are via knockout.

Maddalena looks primed to rise the ladder of the welterweight division after three straight first-round knockouts, a result that is likely to occur once again against Brown, a guy who is talented in his own right but typically does not get the job done against bigger names.

Best Bet: Jack Della Maddalena via KO/TKO/DQ (-125 via DraftKings Sportsbook)

Best of luck!
