UFC 293 Adesanya vs. Strickland: Parlay Picks

2023 total: Down 3.94 units | Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Leg 1: Shane Young Money Line (–162)

Shane Young has lost three fights in a row and has a favorable matchup. He faces Gabriel Miranda, who lost his UFC debut to Benoit Saint-Denis. Miranda was pieced up in that loss and got knocked down three times. Saint-Denis had little respect for what was coming his way and walked forward until he ended the fight. Miranda is a solid grappler but may have trouble finding a takedown against Young. Young should have the advantage as a technical striker when he is standing. He lands 5.24 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 5.51 strikes per minute. Miranda lands 3.80 strikes and absorbs 7.97 significant strikes per minute. Young should win most of the minutes when standing and has the wrestling chops to stop Miranda’s takedown attempts.

Leg 2: Manel Kape Money Line (–410)

Manel Kape was supposed to fight Kai Kara-France, but Kara-France had to pull out due to a concussion. Felipe dos Santos got the call to make his UFC debut against a top-10 flyweight. It is difficult for any fighter, especially someone making their debut. Kape is an explosive striker with a solid ground game. He lands 4.46 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.93 significant strikes per minute. Kape is a better counter-striker, which should come into play in this fight. Dos Santos is dangerous on the mat but is too hittable on the feet. He is too willing to brawl, which is a recipe for disaster against Kape. Kape should make quick work of the debutant.

Leg 3: Israel Adesanya Money Line (–675)

Israel Adesanya is one of the most active champions we have seen in a while. He reclaimed his belt against Alex Pereira in his last outing in April and is already back on the horse. Sean Strickland is one of a few guys who can rival Adesanya for activeness. He has already fought twice this year, both as main events. Five rounds should be no problem for these men, but one will likely get knocked out by then.

Strickland is primarily a kickboxer who has more of a boxing technique while striking. He is well-rounded, but his fight IQ is not the best. His best route to victory in this fight is attempting a takedown against Adesanya and landing ground-and-pound. He has already said in an interview that he should take him down but intends to strike with him because that is what he likes to do. Adesanya will light him up at range, especially with his kicks. He holds a four-inch reach advantage over Strickland and will stand three inches taller. Strickland has a strike ratio of 5.86-4.28 significant strikes per minute. Adesanya is a sniper on the feet, and Strickland gets hit too much.

Total Parlay Odds: +130
