UFC Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6, Week 8 Odds, Picks & Predictions (9/13)

As we move into week eight and the final few weeks of the season, Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) is nearing the conclusion of a strong year. Let’s take a deeper look at my UFC predictions for Tuesday night and where I believe the value is as fight night #8 in Las Vegas draws near. Another 10 athletes enter the octagon with a shot at a UFC contract on the line.

UFC Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6, Week 8 Odds, Picks & Predictions

Malik Lewis vs. Trevor Peek

In this fight, German lightweight Malik Lewis will face off against American lightweight Trevor Peek for what should be one of the best bouts of the evening. And anyone familiar with either of these fighters expects this one to end well within the distance. Lewis, who has won all five of his matches inside the distance, is a Jackson-Wink MMA product that has taken out each opponent in under two rounds.

Regarding Peek, three of his six professional victories have come in the first round, and each of his six victories have been better than the next (and within the distance). It’s worth noting that he defeated Khama Worthy, a former lightweight UFC competitor who had only recently been dropped from the roster, the last time we saw him compete.

With neither of these fighters having ever gone the distance, don’t expect that to change tonight. I do, however, think Lewis’ camp gives him a big edge here, and we see his arm raised by night’s end.

Pick: Malik Lewis (-200 via DraftKings)

Allan Begosso vs. Farid Basharat

The main event of this week’s DWCS is a bantamweight contest between Farid Basharat and Allan Begosso, two of the top prospects at 135 pounds. With a win,  Basharat will be attempting to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Javid, who joined the UFC last year

In his eight professional fights, Farid, the younger sibling we’ll see here, has gone undefeated (8-0), with six of those victories coming inside the final bell.

However, he has a challenging opponent here in Begosso, who enters with a 7-1-1 record, with his sole loss coming in a decision in an LFA title bout.

In a fight I have much closer to even on paper, I’m taking the underdog Begosso to edge this one out before it’s all said and done at the UFC Apex.

Pick: Allan Begosso (+210 via DraftKings)
