UFL Week 2 Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Saturday (2024)

Week 1 of the UFL season is in the books. While opening weekend had two double-digit blowout victories, the other two contests were close and competitive, including one that came down to a game-winning field goal.

The first matchup last week was between reigning USFL Champion Birmingham Stallions and reigning XFL Champion Arlington Renegades. However, this contest was a blowout, with the Stallions winning 27-14. After being tied heading into halftime, Birmingham outscored Arlington 16-3 in the second half.

Thankfully, the second game on Saturday was an outstanding matchup. The Michigan Panthers defeated the St. Louis Battlehawks, 18-16. Jake Bates nailed a 64-yard field goal with less than 10 seconds left to give Michigan the victory. After both teams scored 10 total points in the first three quarters, they combined for 24 points in the fourth.

However, all that happened last week. Now, it's time to move on to Week 2. Let's look at my favorite bet from both UFL matchups on Saturday.

San Antonio Brahmas vs. Memphis Showboats

The Brahmas were heavy underdogs against the D.C. Defenders in Week 1. Yet, they came away with the 15-point victory, thanks to an impressive performance from Chase Garbers and an outstanding trick play. Garbers completed 76% of his pass attempts for 156 yards and two touchdowns, including one to leading receiver Jontre Kirklin. San Antonio had the highlight play of Week 1 when punter Brad Wing threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to offensive lineman Alex Mollette on a trick play right before halftime.

Memphis had a solid opening week victory over the Houston Roughnecks, winning 18-12. Case Cookus completed only 57% of his pass attempts but made the plays when needed to get the victory. He ended the game with 204 passing yards and a touchdown. Four Showboat receivers recorded at least four receptions. Yet, Houston held Sage Surratt in check, surrendering only two receptions for 38 receiving yards on seven targets. The tight end must play better for Memphis to remain undefeated.

Both teams are coming off a victory of at least six points in Week 1. However, San Antonio led wire to wire over a talented D.C. squad, while Memphis withstood a late push from Houston. This game should be close and competitive but the Brahmas stay undefeated and come away with the victory.

Pick: Brahmas -2 (-110)

Arlington Renegades vs. St. Louis Battlehawks

While many expected the Stallions to defeat the Renegades, the game was a blowout after halftime. Matt Corral was outstanding, totaling 201 passing yards, a touchdown and a 143.7 quarterback rating for Birmingham. Meanwhile, Luis Perez put up similar numbers, with 214 passing yards, a touchdown and a 136.7 passer rating. The difference in the game was the rushing production. The Renegades had 59 rushing yards compared to 171 for the Stallions. Furthermore, Birmingham's top rusher, C.J. Marable, had more yards by himself (67) than Arlington had as a team.

Unfortunately, the Battlehawks were victims of a game-winning kick. A.J. McCarron led the team downfield on an impressive drive, ending in a five-yard touchdown to Marcell Ateman and a one-point conversion to Jake Sutherland with less than a minute left in the game. However, E.J. Perry got Michigan in field goal range for Jake Bates to nail a 64-yard field goal. While St. Louis started the year in the loss column, their passing attack played well after a slow start.

With both teams coming off a loss in Week 1, the Renegades and the Battlehawks are determined to get in the win column on Saturday. Yet, one of these teams got blown out last week while the other got beat by a last-second record-setting field goal. St. Louis comes out focused and earns the easy victory over Arlington.

Pick: Battlehawks -5 (-108)
