UFL Week 3 Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (2024)
Week 2 of the UFL season is in the books. All four matchups last week were one-possession games, with the largest margin of victory being only seven points.
The first matchup on Sunday was between the Birmingham Stallions and Michigan Panthers. Birmingham was coming off an outstanding 13-point victory over the Arlington Renegades in Week 1. While they ultimately came away with the win (and covered the 6.5-point spread), the Stallions struggled to throw the ball after an impressive showing on opening weekend. Meanwhile, Michigan got a pair of field goals from Week 1 hero Jake Bates, including a 62-yard kick right before halftime.
Sunday's second game between the Houston Roughnecks and D.C. Defenders got off to a wild start. Corn Elder had a pick-six early in the first quarter, giving the Roughnecks their first lead this season. Unfortunately, their lead didn't make it to halftime, as the Defenders tied the game at 12 apiece going into intermission. Jordan Ta'amu hit Ty Scott for a 17-yard touchdown with six minutes left in the game, giving D.C. the 23-18 victory.
However, all that happened last week. Now, it's time to move on to Week 3. Let's look at my favorite bet from both UFL matchups on Sunday.

UFL Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Week 3 (Sunday)
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Houston Roughnecks vs. Michigan Panthers
Unfortunately, Houston took multiple losses last week against the Defenders. Not only did they lose the game, but the Roughnecks lost starting quarterback Jarrett Guarantano early in the contest to a rib injury. Guarantano will miss a month with the injury, making Reid Sinnett the starting quarterback in the short term. Sinnett played well off the bench, completing 63.3% of his pass attempts for 221 yards and only Houston's second offensive touchdown this year.
Michigan got a game-winning field goal from Jake Bates in Week 1. While the overnight star made a pair of 50+ field goals in Week 2, the Panthers couldn't get a second consecutive victory. However, Michigan is one of the more underrated teams in the UFL. They held Birmingham to two touchdowns and 20 points after they looked like a juggernaut team on opening weekend. E.J. Perry completed 60.6% of his passes for 203 yards and a touchdown in the Week 2 loss.
On paper, this is a matchup between a 0-2 Houston squad and a 1-1 Michigan team. However, the Panthers have the top kicker in the UFL with a proven history of making big kicks when they count. Meanwhile, the Roughnecks have come up short in back-to-back games because of a sub-par offense. Houston has two offensive touchdowns over the first two weeks, the fewest in the league. Now they are down their starting quarterback. This game should be ugly, with Michigan covering the small spread.
Pick: Panthers -2 (-112)
St. Louis Battlehawks vs. San Antonio Brahmas
There isn't a team more accustomed to game-winning field goals than the Battlehawks. St. Louis lost to Michigan in Week 1 on a 64-yard field goal by Jake Bates with three seconds left in the game. Last week, it was the Battlehawks on the winning side of a game-winning kick, as Andre Szmyt converted a 22-yard field goal as time expired. While St. Louis has scored the third-most points over the first two weeks (43), they have also surrendered the third-most points in the league (42).
The Brahmas have been the most surprising team in the UFL this season. After winning three games last year in the XFL, San Antonio joins Birmingham as the only undefeated teams in 2024. Furthermore, they have scored 47 points over the first two weeks, tired with the Stallions for the most in the UFL. After an impressive 15-point victory over the Defenders in Week 1, the Brahmas had an epic 20-point fourth-quarter comeback victory in Week 2, winning 20-19.
This matchup might be the most entertaining in Week 3. St. Louis is a talented team, posting the second-best odds to win the UFL Championship on DraftKings (+425). However, they haven't had a statement win this season. Meanwhile, the Brahmas beat down a Defenders team with high expectations in Week 1, only to follow it up with a 20-point fourth-quarter comeback victory in Week 2. After scoring two touchdowns in the final minute last week, San Antonio should be the favored team in this matchup against St. Louis.
Pick: Brahmas MoneyLine (+100)
