Uruguay vs. Brazil
Saturday's nightcap is going to be a fantastic match as Uruguay and Brazil square off in a battle of juggernauts. Uruguay cruised to a Group C victory at 3-0-0 (+8 GD), while Brazil went 1-2-0 (+3 GD) in Group D, which was good enough for the runner-up spot. Kickoff is set for 9:00 p.m. ET from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
This is going to be a heavyweight tilt, and it's easily the best match of the quarterfinal round. From a betting perspective, I'm taking it to the prop sheet, where I'm saying there will be exactly one or two goals in the match. You can find this under the "Game Props" tab on DraftKings Sportsbook, and you'll see a subcategory with "Total Goals (Bands)".
Goals are going to be tough to come by in this match. For starters, Brazil will be without Vinicius Júnior, one of its craftiest players, who is out due to an accumulation of yellow cards. Dorival Júnior's squad is coming off a 1-1 tie with Colombia in the group stage, and I think this is a pretty comparable match in terms of the level of opponent. As we've seen with some of the big-time matches in both Copa America and the Euros, defenses often rise up when the stakes are the highest. It's tough to find space out there with these world-class defenses.
Speaking of space, one of the interesting facts about this tournament is the matches are being played on smaller pitches. The fields are just 100 meters by 64 meters when they're normally 105 x 68 meters. There's already not a lot of space for the offenses to get creative, and now take away a few meters when everyone's just too bunched up in the final third.
I think we're in for a 1-0 or 1-1 match in Sin City on Saturday. I wish I could tell you who was going to win, but this game really is a toss-up. I'm most confident leaning on these premier defenses. I expect a lower-scoring battle, but both teams still have the offensive talent to break through for a goal.
Bet: Total Goals (Bands): 1-2 Goals (-115)
