USFL Week 6 Betting Odds, Previews, Picks (2022)

Sadly, a 1-2 record in Week 5 drops the season tally to 7-8. Still, last week was only the mid-point of the USFL regular season. So, there’s an opportunity to get hot and profit off spring football. Instead of multiple top bets this week, a single parlay is the suggested course of action.

Three-team Moneyline Parlay (+120)

Birmingham Stallions (-320), New Orleans Breakers (-350), and New Jersey Generals (-330)

The Stallions, Breakers, and Generals are 7.0-point, 7.5-point, and 7.0-point favorites, respectively, in Week 6. While all might cover their sizable spreads, hooking the three favorites together eliminates the need to lay big points while producing a plus wagering line.

The three favorites have a combined 12-3 record through five weeks. Moreover, according to FOX Sports, they’ve all had an excellent point differential. The Breakers have scored 25 more points than their opponents, the Generals have outscored their foes by 26 points, and the undefeated Stallions have trounced their opposition by 37 points.

Unsurprisingly, they’ve been the three best teams in Expected Points Added (EPA) per play, per Anthony Reinhard.

Additionally, out of the three favorites’ opponents, only the Panthers have graded well in EPA/play on either side of the ball, checking in as an above-average defense and below-average offense. Hilariously, the Maulers have had the worst offense and second-worst defense, and the Gamblers have had the second-worst offense and appear tied for the third-worst defense.

All three bottom-dwelling teams have identical 1-4 records, with the Maulers getting their only win of the year in Week 5 against the Gamblers, extending Houston’s losing streak to four games since knocking off, you guessed it, the Panthers in Week 1. However, it gets funnier. Michigan’s only win was against the Maulers. So, these three terrible teams have earned their only wins against one another.

Pittsburgh has been outscored by 52 points, Houston has been outscored by nine points, and Michigan has repeatedly found the banana peel, despite scoring seven points more than their opponents. But, of course, Michigan’s point disparity was inflated by hammering the Maulers 24-0 in Week 3.

There’s a compelling argument the best three teams are playing the USFL’s worst three teams this week, and the spreads reflect that. Still, instead of risking any of them coming through the backdoor and covering the spread, parlaying the three favorites to simply handle their business eliminates the sweat. It’s unlikely a three-team parlay will represent the only USFL bet in a week ever again this year. However, most weeks, the top three teams won’t face the bottom three teams.
