Washington was still in the hunt for the playoffs until last week when a loss to the Eagles eliminated them. This season was streaky as they lost four straight, preceded to win four straight, then lost four straight again. This doesn't mean Washington is just going to lay down and get ready for the offseason, as head coach Ron Rivera said they would prepare for this week like any other. Tyler Heinicke will start at quarterback in what could be his last game for the team, and weâll also see some younger players who haven't seen the field much this season. This will also be the end of an era as they will no longer be the Washington Football Team after this season.
The Giants will conclude another disappointing year and face many questions after this Sunday. Mike Glennon suffered a wrist injury last week, so it looks like Jake Fromm will get one more start for Big Blue. This will certainly not be the same Giants team after this week, as we'll probably see some shakeups, whether it be with the coaching or even management. You certainly cannot blame this season on one aspect. Once again, New York never had a fully healthy team as they would be missing top talent on a weekly basis.
Trends
- The under is 16-6-1 in Washingtonâs last 23 games on Sundays.
- Washington is 8-12 against the spread in its last 20 games as the favorite.
- The under is 9-0-1 in New Yorkâs last 10 games as an underdog at MetLife Stadium.
- New York has won seven of its last 13 games as an underdog against NFC teams on Sundays.
Overview
Neither team will have their A-squad in this game, not like either had an A-squad to begin with. The Giantsâ offense has been abysmal no matter who's played this season as theyâre the 31st scoring offense in the league. Washington's offense hasn't been any better as they're in the bottom 20, but the defense has been much better in the second half of the season. This will not be a fun game to watch, so don't expect much scoring on either side. The Giants were able to go under a 37.5 point total last week, and it should not be a problem again.
Pick: Under 38
