MLB Best Bets

San Francisco Giants (+140vs. Houston Astros (-166)| O/U 7.5 (-105/-115)

The Houston Astros had a built-in excuse if they were to have gone on to drop Monday’s opener against the San Francisco Giants, as starting pitcher Luis Garcia left after eight pitches with elbow discomfort. However, long reliever Brandon Bielak heroically stepped in to give the team length with four strong innings, and five total relievers held the Giants’ offense down enough to produce a four-run victory. Now with arguably their best pitcher on the mound in the series finale, southpaw Framber Valdez, we expect another poor day offensively from San Francisco.

Valdez should be able to work efficiently against a Giants lineup that ranks 24th in ISO, 27th in wOBA, and 28th in wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season. Valdez is a workhorse, leading the staff with 39 innings and 98.2 pitches per start. However, many of Houston’s best bullpen arms are locked and loaded, with tomorrow being an off day before the team heads to Seattle.

The Under has cashed in five of the Giants’ previous six road games, and we expect that trend to manifest itself in another low-scoring game for San Francisco.

Pick: San Francisco Giants Team Total Under 3 runs (+102)

NBA Playoffs Best Bets

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers

This game is my favorite playoff game to bet on right now. The Celtics and 76ers have plenty of talented players that can score, rebound, and defend. That is the perfect combination for player prop betting. Tonight there are plenty of opportunities for bettors to use to their advantage.

The first opportunity is Jayson Tatum under 3.5 three-pointers. Tatum is one of the highest-volume three-point shooters in the NBA, with an average of 9.27 attempts per game. Typically the opportunity is there for Tatum, but that number sinks to 6.6 against Philadelphia. Tatum averages 2.6 made three-pointers against the 76ers. That means there is betting value on the under tonight.

Another player that I like is Jaylen Brown. Brown does not get the same recognition as fellow teammate Jayson Tatum, but he can score consistently. Brown averages 26.1 points in the playoffs this season. That is after a regular season of scoring 26.6 points per game. Philadelphia will focus on Tatum. That will give Brown additional scoring opportunities tonight.

The third bet that I like tonight is James Harden under 24.5 points. James Harden can score, but he has been transforming into a pass-first point guard this season. That is mainly because this season’s MVP, Joel Embiid, is the first scoring option for the 76ers. Harden averages 22.8 points this postseason and lacks the consistency to give the over-betting value.

Jayson Tatum Under 3.5 Three Pointers (-125)
Jaylen Brown Over 24.5 Points (-130)
James Harden Under 24.5 Points (-113)

NHL Playoffs Best Bets

Edmonton Oilers (-120) vs. Vegas Golden Knights (+100) | O/U 6.5 (-115/-105)

The heavyweight matchup of the night pits the Edmonton Oilers against the Vegas Golden Knights for a series-opening game. This one gets underway at 9:30 p.m. ET from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

I’m riding with Vegas on home ice in the opening game of the series. They absolutely dominated an inferior Winnipeg team, winning four straight games down the stretch. The Golden Knights outscored the Jets 18-9 over the four-game sample. Additionally, they’ve seen Laurent Brossoit claim the top spot in net as he’s now 4-1-0 with a 2.42 GAA and .915 SV%.

The elephant in the room in this series is whether or not Vegas can slow down the duo of Leon Draisaitl (7G, 4A) and Connor McDavid (3G, 7A). Well, I expect them to limit the two stars and force them to score at even strength or completely take them out of the game and make the bottom six forwards step up. Nine of their 21 combined points came on the power play in the first round. Vegas was the least-penalized team in the NHL this year, taking just 196 penalties. To put that into perspective, the next closest was St. Louis at 217.

If Vegas limits their time in the box, they’ll have a huge advantage in this series. Finally, having Mark Stone back in the lineup is huge. He’s a three-time runner-up for the Selke Award and has placed inside the top six on six occasions. Look for him and the Golden Knights to make life miserable for McDavid and Draisaitl. Let’s ride with the home team in this one.

Bet: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (+100)
