Los Angeles Lakers @ Los Angeles Clippers
It's already known that Paul George won't play in this matchup against the Lakers. Without George, the Clippers dropped a home game to the Kings 123-107 last time out. However, the Lakers didn't win their last game either, losing 123-113 to the Suns on the road a few days ago.
The Clippers have ultimately played more consistent defense this season. They've held teams to a 53.7% effective field goal percentage and likely won't get beat badly on the glass, with the Lakers earning only 22.4% of offensive rebounds per game.
While the Lakers will keep the Clippers away from the foul line more, the Clippers still shoot an effective field goal percentage of 57.2% and have scored 120.9 points per 100 possessions. That's good for fourth in the NBA.
In the Clippers' final home game against the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena, I'll back them to get the job done and cover the -3.5.
Bet: Clippers -3.5 (-110)

College Basketball Best Bets

Northwestern @ Maryland
This is the most exciting game of today's slate... right? Maryland has the definition of a home-court advantage, and the Wildcats don't exactly perform well on the road, ranking outside the top 300 in the away-from-court metric. Both teams play slow, methodical basketball, so taking the under is tempting. Still, Northwestern can shoot the lights out, and Maryland should get to the rack a lot with their ability to draw fouls and capitalize on second looks.
I see this almost as a heat-check game for Northwestern. They shot 45% from deep last game, with Ryan Langborg going 5-9. I think the Ty Berry injury rears its ugly head in this one, and we see how little depth the Wildcats have with foul issues. Maryland should take this one, keeping Northwestern squarely on the bubble.
Bet: Maryland -5.0 (-110 via BetRivers Sportsbook)

Columbus Blue Jackets @ New York Rangers
The Rangers had their 10-game win streak snapped last time out, losing 4-2 in Columbus on Sunday. They'll have a shot at redemption tonight in the Big Apple as they host the Blue Jackets for the second leg of a home-and-home scenario. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET from Madison Square Garden in New York, NY.
Jonathan Quick got the nod in Sunday's loss to the Jackets, so it'll likely be Igor Shesterkin making the start tonight at home. The netminder has been excellent over his last three outings, going 3-0-0 while allowing just three goals. He stopped 119 shots on 122 attempts over the three-game sample size (.975 SV%). As a team this season, the Rangers are the fourth-best defensive team in the league, conceding only 2.58 goals per game. I think New York's defense shows up in this game, creating a viable path for the Rangers to cover the puck line.
It should be a relatively easy challenge for the Rangers' offense, as they're tasked with scoring on the 30th-ranked defense in the league (3.42 GAA). Columbus is also 25th on the penalty kill, killing off just 76.65% of opposing power plays. New York brings in the fifth-ranked power play unit, cashing 24.86% of their man-advantage opportunities. All signs point to the Rangers getting back to their winning ways tonight. Let's lay the 1.5 goals with New York.
Bet: New York Rangers -1.5 (+100)
