Phoenix Suns @ Denver Nuggets

The Suns were ultimately flat in their most recent game against the Spurs. Phoenix dominated the Spurs in the first two consecutive games against the Spurs. However, the offense didn’t fare well on the glass and didn’t see many foul shots against the Spurs.

Don’t expect the Suns to get to the foul line consistently. However, you should expect them to shoot a very high effective field goal percentage. The Suns have hit at least a 61.6% effective field goal percentage in four of their last five games.

Meanwhile, the defense has also been good lately, holding its last four opponents to a 51.7% effective field goal percentage or worse. It’s also super hard to add second chances against the Suns.

Phoenix will take on the Denver Nuggets, another well-balanced squad. Denver has been very consistent offensively. Over the last two games, the Nuggets have added over 40% of offensive rebounds and continue to get to the foul line at an above-average rate.

On defense, it’s more of the same. They’ve limited teams to no more than a 55.8% effective field goal percentage in seven straight games. However, the defense hasn’t been nearly as good as the offense has been. The Suns should at least stick around offensively, despite Jusuf Nurkic and Bradley Beal listed as game-time decisions.

I’m going to rock with the Suns at +7.5 here.

Bet: Suns +7.5 (-105)

Ottawa Senators @ Buffalo Sabres

The Senators and Sabres were pegged as teams that could take the next step forward and compete for a playoff spot this year. However, they’ve both underperformed greatly and now occupy the eighth (64 points) and sixth (73 points) spots in the Atlantic Division, respectively. This divisional matchup is set for 7:00 p.m. ET from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

The main reason for Ottawa’s struggles this season is a poor effort defensively. They’re allowing 3.41 goals per game, which is 30th in the league. The Sens are also 31st on the penalty kill, finding success only 72.95% of the time. Over their current 5-9-1 run, they’re allowing 3.7 goals per game. They’ve seen at least seven goals in nine of those 15 games, including a run of five straight.

Furthermore, the Senators have been one of the best “Over teams” this season, going 39-28-1 to the over (sixth). Both offenses are averaging at least 3.0 goals per game, so I’ll be playing the over tonight in Buffalo.

Bet: Over 6.5 Total Goals (-110)

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. North Carolina Tar Heels (Thursday)

Alabama is one of the country’s best and most impressive offenses, as their 90.2 points per game is second in the nation. They move quickly and wear you down for 40 minutes. They don’t worry about playing any sort of defense, as they allow 80 points per game and, in several games, allowed their opponent to hit the century mark.

Don’t count out North Carolina, which has plenty of firepower and plays just as fast. Occasionally, they’ll have moments of regression when shooting the ball, but they aren’t afraid to keep going and are still averaging 81 points per game. There isn’t a spot where they can’t score; they attack the rim or just fire from the perimeter.

If you’re looking for an offensive battle, you will get one. Both teams will go on runs, and both are confident enough in their offense that they won’t need the strongest defense.

Pick: Over 173.5 Total Points (-110)
