Carolina Panthers To Have the Worst Regular Season Record (+280)

The Arizona Cardinals are the current favorite in this market at +200, even though they currently have the same amount of wins (1) as the Panthers. Carolina’s offense has been slightly worse than Arizona’s, with rookie QB Bryce Young ranking in the bottom-five in points per possession and scoring%, while also ranking second-worst in net yards per pass attempt. Their defense has also been atrocious, ranking third-worst in points allowed per possession and second-worst at generating turnovers.

Aside from that, the Cardinals have some key offensive reinforcements coming back, with Murray being activated from the IR and Conner on track to return in a few weeks. Even though Carolina’s strength of schedule remaining is slightly easier than that of Arizona’s, they are the less-talented team once Arizona’s weapons return, with painfully obvious holes on both sides of the ball.

I also like that Arizona is under a first-year head coach in Jonathan Gannon, who has the incentive to win as many games as possible for his job security. Though this isn’t necessarily just a race between these two teams, I see Carolina as the decidedly worst team in the NFL, and I’ll take them in this market before they become the favorite.

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers

  • Leg 1: Joel Embiid Over 4.5 Assists (-125)
  • Leg 2: Jrue Holiday Under 6.5 Assists (-185)
  • Leg 3: Tobias Harris Over 13.5 Points (-135)

Everything changes without James Harden in the fold for the 76ers. One facet is Joel Embiid and his assists. Through six games this season, he is over this mark in five, averaging 6.2 assists per game. In 15 games without him last season, “JoJo” averaged 6.4 APG and eclipsed this mark in 12 of those contests.

Derrick White is slated to rejoin the Celtics today following the birth of his second child. His presence should cut right into Jrue Holiday’s assist production. White has been out the last two games, which has led to Holiday finding 10 and six assists. In the four games with White, Holiday is under this line in three of four, averaging four assists and just six potential assists per game.

Sticking with the same no-Harden theme, Tobias Harris has seen a huge uptick in scoring without “The Beard.” He is averaging 19.7 points per game through six games and has gone over this mark in each contest. In 20 games without Harden last season, he averaged 18.5 points per game and went over this in 15/20.

Parlay Odds: +350

Arizona State @ Mississippi State

For the Barstool Invitational, we are treated to two solid games in Florida Atlanta vs. Loyola Chicago and Arizona State at Mississippi State. I’ll begin with the second game of the night because I’m simply more confident in this pick.

I don’t want to bury the lede, but Mississippi State is the wounded walking right now. Tolu Smith is the biggest name banged up. Shakeel Moore is suspended and Andrew Taylor is currently questionable. Without the offense running through Smith, I am not confident in them being able to execute offensively the way they want to.

Luckily for them, they should be buoyed by their defense once again. Projected to be top 10, the way to beat these Bulldogs is from the perimeter, with over 36 percent of opponents’ points coming from deep last year. Mississippi State truly does not allow much inside and will force plenty of turnovers.

Arizona State’s offense ranked outside the top 100 last year and is projected to be worse by KenPom this season. What the Sun Devils did not do well last year was shoot the deep ball, ranking 275th in three-point percentage.

The Bulldogs didn’t either, ranking dead last in all of Division I at shooting from beyond the arc and 176th in efficiency. KenPom gave Mississippi State an offensive ranking of 55th, which is a big jump. It should improve, but I don’t expect the change to come overnight, especially while players are banged up.

Points are going to be at a premium tonight. This game screams under to me.

Bet: Under 134.5 (-110)
