Buffalo Bills To Make the Playoffs (+100)

The AFC playoff picture has become quite the mess in recent weeks, as the Bills are currently tied at 7-6 with five other teams for the sixth and seventh seeds in the conference. They also trail Jacksonville, Kansas City and Cleveland by only one game, which could factor in down the stretch, as absolutely nothing has been decided yet.

Regarding the teams that they're tied with - Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Cincinnati are all currently starting backup QBs, and Houston could be added to that list this week if C.J. Stroud is unable to go. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati have considerably harder remaining strength of schedules by opponents’ winning percentages. The Colts, Texans, Steelers and Bengals also all play each other in a convoluted round-robin of matchups in the remaining four weeks, so some of those teams are guaranteed to pick up at least one loss.

While Buffalo still has tough games left against Dallas and Miami, Vegas sees the Bills as a favorite over the Cowboys this week, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them favored on the road against the Dolphins if they pick up three wins before Week 18.

Like I said, the AFC playoff picture is an insane mess at the moment. Still, I'll back the Bills and their third-ranked offense in terms of DVOA (sixth in DVOA overall) to prevail and make the playoffs over the wasteland of backup QBs vying for the same spots, especially at even money.

NBA Best Bets

New Orleans Pelicans @ Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards have only won the tip in 32% of games this season. They've scored first more, hitting the first field goal in 45% of games. However, they've only attempted the first field goal in 41% of games.

It's unlikely that the Wizards get the first shot tonight.

They'll take on the New Orleans Pelicans, who have won the tip in 54% of games. New Orleans has been less consistent in scoring the basketball, but they'll most likely have the ball first. That ultimately gives them a higher probability of scoring first.

Brandon Ingram and Jonas Valanciunas have combined to take over 70% of the first shot for the Pelicans. However, CJ McCollum has nailed the team's first field goal in 45% of games despite only having 11 starts.

In 11 starts, McCollum has five first-field goals and is sitting at +1000 to score first. I'll gladly take this line. McCollum is just one first field goal away from tying Valanciunas for the team lead. Valanciunas has played in 24 games, more than double how many McCollum has played in.

Bet: CJ McCollum (+1000)

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Montreal Canadiens

The NHL action gets underway out east as the Penguins take on the Canadiens. Pittsburgh enters this game on the second night of a back-to-back after beating Arizona 4-2 last night. Montreal is on two days of rest after losing 2-1 to Nashville on Sunday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Québec.

The Pens captured two points last night, snapping a four-game slide. I'll back them to make it two wins in a row tonight as they make the trip to the Great White North. This should be a breakout spot for their offense, taking on a Habs side that's 27th in goals against (3.25 GAA). They've also been horrendous on the penalty kill, ranking 28th overall (73.53%).

These holes on the defensive end have led to the Canadiens owning the third-worst goal differential in the league at -22, trailing only the Sharks (-50) and the Blackhawks (-31). I like Pittsburgh to build on last night's four-goal performance and take care of business. They're the more well-rounded team, so I'll lay the juice with the Pens tonight.

Bet: Pittsburgh Penguins Moneyline (-152)
