WNBA Best Bets, Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (6/27)

Welcome to another day of the WNBA season! I’ll write best bets for the day as the season progresses, so make sure to follow. I’ll be keeping track of my results all year, but really I am simply excited there is another sport to bet on. There is a lot to be excited about this year. I will be betting one unit on all bets, and be sure to shop around for your best odds. 

Tuesday’s Best WNBA Bet

Season: 10-4

New York Liberty at Connecticut Sun

After the Sun lost Brionna Jones, they are a reasonable four-point underdog to the Liberty tonight at home.

What this team does have, however, is depth. You can list any number of players who will be thrown into the “needs to step up” conversation. Tiffany Hayes is one of them after a 17-point outing against Minnesota last week.

The Liberty is playing well of late, too, scoring 110 points last week at Atlanta. Even when Breanna Stewart was struggling, they still managed to remain victorious, which is honestly saying something.

Still, the Sun rep the third-best defense in the league, something that the Liberty don’t excel at. In this game, I expect it to be close and for the Sun to depend on their superior rebounding to at least cover. I can’t quite bet the money line, but Sun to cover is an easy play.

Play: Sun +4.5 (-102)

Dallas Wings at Phoenix Mercury

To put it bluntly, the Mercury is bad. Their 2-10 record is reflective of how they’ve been playing, and they are 2-10 against the spread as well, going 1-7 as an underdog.

Where they truly struggle the most is from a defensive standpoint, where they rank last. Despite Dallas’ not being entirely dependent on their offense, the Wings will be able to ride Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally to score.

Until proven otherwise, I am going to continue fading the Mercury. This has been an easy bet all year, and it will be one I am making again tonight. Vanessa Nygaard is out, so even if they are fully healthy, I imagine there will be some growing pains before this team gets back to being able to compete on a daily basis.
