Chicago Sky at Atlanta Dream
After taking down Dallas on Sunday, I am a little surprised that the 3-1 Sky are underdogs to the 1-2 Dream in Atlanta.
Yes, Chicago has outperformed expectations based on the preseason buzz, but what they have done is not a flash in the pan. Courtney Williams has been an awesome facilitator with 5.3 assists per game, fifth best in the league, feeding Kahleah Copper and Marina Mabrey, both are averaging over 15 points each contest so far.
Of course, I am burying the lede by not mentioning the Sky defense. Their 90.5 defensive rating is second best only behind the juggernaut Aces and they have faced some premier offenses and some premier players â such as Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally last time out â while still finding ways to win.
Allisha Gray, Cheyenne Parker, and Rhyne Howard are all solid, and there's a reason the Dream offense is third-best in the league. However, combined with their sub-par defense and early-season inertia, I have to go with the Sky in this one.
Bet: Sky Moneyline (+125)
Minnesota Lynx at Dallas Wings
After a close loss in their aforementioned game against the Sky, Dallas returns home to take on a Lynx team that could end up being the worst team in the league.
Dallas' early defensive woes won't be a problem against Minnesota's 10th-ranked offense tonight. The firepower that Dallas has should prove deadly and if you can find any Arike Ogunbowale props, take the over because she easily can go for 30 points tonight.
Combine the Dallas guard with the frontcourt piece of Satou Sabally and it wouldn't surprise me for the Wings to post 100 tonight on Minnesota. I cannot trust any over-under because I do see this as a blowout, but I am very comfortable siding with Dallas tonight.
Bet: Wings -5.5 (-110)
Indiana Fever at Connecticut Sun
This number is already low but my oh my does it scream under.
The Sun rank 11th in pace of play with the Fever close behind at seventh, still in the bottom half of the league. Neither offense is exactly spectacular with the Fever ranked 11th in efficiency and the Sun eighth, while both defenses can compete as both rank in the top half of the league.
Furthermore, the Sun have the third-best rebounding rate so I don't see many second-chance opportunities for Indiana tonight
Indiana is averaging 74.7 points per game while Connecticut is averaging 75.8. Obviously, it is early in the season but that's giving eight points of leeway to the under already which is a bet I am willing to take.
Bet: Under 159.5 (-110)
