New York Liberty (-2.5) at Minnesota Lynx – 159.5 O/U (-110/-110)
Friday night brings us Game 4 of the 2024 WNBA Finals between the Lynx and Liberty. On Wednesday, New York won a close one to take a 2-1 series lead. Tonight’s result will either crown the Liberty as champs or keep Minnesota alive for a winner-take-all Game 5. Let’s see how to bet this one.
When handicapping this Game 4 matchup, it’s important to review how the first three games of the Finals have gone. In Game 1, the Lynx came back from an 18-point deficit before eventually stealing the win in overtime. In Game 2, the Liberty won by 12 points but it was just a one-possession game with four minutes to play.
Then in Game 3, with the series shifting to Minnesota, the Lynx had a 15-point lead at one point and even led by four with less than three minutes to go. Yet, New York stormed back and ultimately won it with a last-second three-pointer by Sabrina Ionescu. All three games could’ve gone either way and we should expect another tight one tonight.
Despite losing on Wednesday, the Lynx’s home-court advantage is real. Minnesota was 16-4 at home in the regular season, including 4-1 as a home underdog. The Lynx are now 4-2 at home in the playoffs so far and 3-1 against the spread as dogs in the postseason.
If the Lynx can recover from blowing a lead and losing on a last-second three, then they can pull out a win tonight to even the series. Minnesota is 5-2 ATS against New York this year with four outright wins as underdogs.
In Game 3, the Lynx’s strong defense made a statement early. They held the Liberty to just 18 first-quarter points and 35 at the half. Minnesota held opponents to a league-low 41.0% shooting percentage and 27.9% three-point percentage at home this season and that showed early on. This defense is elite at home and needs to maintain the effort for a full four quarters.
This is survival mode for Minnesota with the win-or-go-home scenario. Back the home underdog to cover the spread and consider the outright moneyline as well. The Lynx are 10-3 in games after a loss this year and should have one more strong effort at home before the series heads back to New York.
